Aarghhh - all over the news and papers. No I am not excited that two over priviledged toffs are getting married. Don't really care and can't understand people who do really Hmm.

What does this mean for us - the people of Britain? Errr not much really.

Well thank feck that's all over. Managed to avoid it (obviously with sour expression and look of martyrdom on my face Wink) all day, with trip to cinema with dc, lunch out etc....but how long do you think we will have to endure the press coverage before it dies out, and all the post mortem discussions on active conversations?

exoticfruits · 29/04/2011 22:12

I think you are stuck with it for ages yet Grin

hmc · 29/04/2011 22:14

Yeah you'd love that, you would! Grin

exoticfruits · 29/04/2011 22:22

Even a bit much for me! You should have gone away for a week-out of the country!

hmc · 29/04/2011 22:23

Now there is an admission!

ninah · 29/04/2011 22:29

oh, I never said feudalism didn't work nijinsky. It's tried and tested, and I'm sure, given the right disposition, it can be almost as much fun tugging your forelock as being the recipient of forelock tugging. I said it's not for me.

exoticfruits · 30/04/2011 08:04

I never said in the first place that I was madly royalist-just irritated with OP talking as if it was someone anonymous person who lives in the next street when he is going to be king one day and will be in the history books (whether people like it or not and regardless of what happens to the monarchy in the future) whereas OP and soap characters will be quickly forgotten. In 100yrs time no one will know who they were but everyone will know who William was-unless they have the sort of inverted snobbery which makes them want to appear ignorant or they have absolutely appalling general knowledge.

apologies if this article is above, not time to read just yet

whomovedmychocolate · 30/04/2011 08:27

I'm with the OP (Albeit very late since I was avoiding anything weddingy yesterday so not on MN much).

Just what a bankrupt country needs, more fucking bunting Hmm

exoticfruits · 30/04/2011 08:32

I think they are more in need of some light hearted fun than piling on misery!

breathing · 30/04/2011 08:33

Im sick of the whole "we should feel sorry for her" concept. The girl chose to be there, her whole life was pointed in that direction (whether it was him or another wealthy man) and she CHOSE that her future son will be king of the country. Poor her indeed. I dont buy it.

Triggles · 30/04/2011 08:46

Personally, if people are so "tired of it" and don't "give a shit" then perhaps they should just ignore it and stop being childish. Let those that enjoy it, do so. And those that don't can just get on with other things. I see no point in deliberately being nasty and trying to spoil it for others who want to enjoy the event.

hmc · 30/04/2011 09:03

Ridiculous Triggles - impossible to ignore. Rammed down our throats constantly - turned on Breakfast tv this morning and back off again within 45 seconds since they were all still wanking on about it. I would quite like to be able to watch the news, and for normal service to be restored on my facebook account and in mumsnet active consversations etc etc. You've had your day of enjoyment (well longer - there was the lead up to it) - you should all just move on now and park it

whomovedmychocolate · 30/04/2011 09:05

How can we ignore it? I went out yesterday purposely to avoid it and was chased by bunting toting Toyota's on the M40 Hmm

We're not deliberately being nasty. Frankly there are a few things in the world a teensy little bit more important - like nuclear reactors going tits up, wars and dictators and the fact that economically we are in the crapper that's all.

Moving swiftly on.....

breathing · 30/04/2011 09:48

Ig nore it? I lost a days work/income due to it
