Aarghhh - all over the news and papers. No I am not excited that two over priviledged toffs are getting married. Don't really care and can't understand people who do really Hmm.

What does this mean for us - the people of Britain? Errr not much really.

ninah · 28/04/2011 23:57

i wonder why people appear to feel so threatened by dissent in these matters

pigletmania · 28/04/2011 23:57

Thanks Gemsy for your helpful comment.

BakeliteBelle · 28/04/2011 23:57

Funny, swc seems eminently sensible.

Not everyone cared much when Diana died either. You wouldn't have guessed it by the mass hysteria though

scottishmummy · 28/04/2011 23:58

BeerTricks, I think I know exactly what you were going to say! Perhaps you should have prefaced your comment with the word 'allegedly'..

pigletmania · 28/04/2011 23:59

Gemsy I suggest that you read research of the correlation between having a positive attitude and cancer recovery.

BakeliteBelle · 28/04/2011 23:59

oh, an old joke I see!

I prefer to fill the gaping abyss with beer. it tastes better

pigletmania · 29/04/2011 00:03

SWC just because you are not keen on them does not mean others people are not, some people love them and for some it is a distraction even if you dont agree.

ostracized · 29/04/2011 00:03

Apparently the queen and prince charles are paying for the wedding (BUT WITH WHOSE MONEY YOU MAY ASK?????), but the taxpayer is definitely funding the massive security costs. Why can't this sort of money be raised to re-generate beyond poor areas of the UK for example?

On tv there was a clip about the various castles the "royals" live in during the summer and winter blah blah blah and I must say I find that sort of talk offensive.

I think they are an anachronism and that our country would be better off without them - might become more egalitarian and less dominated by the old boys' network. Constitutionally difficult to remove them but not impossible.

Whatever people want to do tomorrow is up to them but I am disappointed in my dcs' primary school for taking the whole thing at such face value and not encouraging any kind of critical thinking about the whole thing, though maybe primary school is too soon for that - I wonder how secondary schools have been approaching the whole thing. Anybody have any kids at secondary school?

Is this about the BT couple? ©Charlie Brooker

FunnysInTheGarden · 29/04/2011 00:04

Anyhoo Happy Royal Wedding people. I will be enjoying it for what it is, thats for sure.

Don't choke on your bitterness will you.........

theinet · 29/04/2011 00:07

it gives a lot of people a lot of pleasure. and very bitter to take away from that. I don't like football, and have issues with the power and influence some elements of football culture have on the young. doesn't stop me watching the world cup matches in the pub if friends invite me, or appreciating the spectacle and the emotional involvement some people genuinely feel about it. I certainly wouldn't want to stop them. this is much the same.

FunnysInTheGarden · 29/04/2011 00:07

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ostra

and BOF, I do believe it is, about the same level of national importance NE way

scottishmummy · 29/04/2011 00:07

and conversely piglet, just because you gush and there wont be a dry seat in your house tomorrow - doesnt mean we all have to like them, like you

thats the point of discursive threads.not a lame well some of us like them...as if dissenting opinion will just melt away.because you said

scottishmummy · 29/04/2011 00:08

get a better put down
bitter, bitterness is so passée

try harder

FunnysInTheGarden · 29/04/2011 00:09

no, no SM the point of threads like these is that eventually everyone will agree with me..........Don't kid yerself.

scottishmummy · 29/04/2011 00:10

well if you only associate with sycophants.eventually yes

FunnysInTheGarden · 29/04/2011 00:10

oh I'm not trying to put anyone down, just aiming to discredit, you know
