Aarghhh - all over the news and papers. No I am not excited that two over priviledged toffs are getting married. Don't really care and can't understand people who do really Hmm.

What does this mean for us - the people of Britain? Errr not much really.

Only time will tell smallwhitecat-unless you have a crystal ball you can't know!

exoticfruits · 28/04/2011 22:54

It wouldn't be so bad if it was the first-instead of one of many!

hmc · 28/04/2011 22:55

Am a historian as it happens, and most scholarly historians would laugh derisively at the concept that royal weddings are of major historical significance

usualsuspect · 28/04/2011 22:56

My dp loses a days pay ..casual contract, no bank holiday pay...so thanks for that Will and Kate

[sour faced old crone]

LadyCornyOfSilk · 28/04/2011 22:57

bummer Sad

BakeliteBelle · 28/04/2011 22:57

Oh god, the idiots are taking over. YANBU.
Waste of fucking money in a time of need. I know, lets spend zillions on a Royal Wedding and screw the NHS.

Morons.

worraliberty · 28/04/2011 22:58

Jesus Christ, I don't give a shit about a lot of things but I don't start threads about them...spreading misery.

That'll be because if I say I don't give a shit about something I mean it Grin

hmc · 28/04/2011 22:59

I'm slightly right of centre if anything - I just prefer meritocracy to aristocracy (shrugs)

Why don't those of you suffering from false consciousness just leave us in peace to our little vent thread as it seemingly so offends your sensibilities?

PiaThreeTimes · 28/04/2011 23:00

What confuses me are the people who seem to take personal offence when others say they don't care about the royal wedding.

The bride and groom are not friends of yours. They are strangers to you. They don't know you and you don't know them. Get it?!

BakeliteBelle · 28/04/2011 23:00

Who says the Royal Wedding haters are miserable? I am very jolly thank you. I just think it is a shocking, cretinous waste of money and energy.

Do you hate Xmas also? After all, even IF Jesus was born it was not on the 25th Dec and Father Christmas does not exist, you know...

fedupalready · 28/04/2011 23:10

Agree with BakeliteBelle, last read the cost of security for the tax-payer alone is over £30 million whether we like it or not, plus my DP has to pay all 50 of his staff for yet another bank holiday in the worst trading month of the year said this wedding is not good for his business.

hmc · 28/04/2011 23:10

Eh? - I think we might need some twilight zone music to go with your question bemybebe Confused

PiaThreeTimes · 28/04/2011 23:11

Grin smallwhitecat. Excellent!

Oops, sorry, did not make myself clear... Blush Grin I don't care for Jesus, but I do love a good party...

MrsCrafty · 28/04/2011 23:15

I knew you lot would hate it. Only came to see if you did. And you did. How dreadfully unpatriotic.

I think it has already brought some joy to a really pissed off people, simply by having the day off.

I am glad that I will be watching history in the making.

As well as watching what happens because the Syrian PM's invite has been rescinded.

Ahhh but most of us get something out of Christmas bemybabe. What are us 'commoners' getting out of this. Horsey folk splashing ourtheir money around at a time when the country is on its knees, expecting us to splash out on trashy Will&Kate cups/tea towels Hmm.

I wish them all the best as I wish all newly marrieds but I don't want to know about it and is it really so important as to warrant another day for businesses to grind to a halt and to have been leading on all news bulletins for the last month. When they start off saying 'so the excitement is mounting', I think wtf planet are people on!

To top it all off another bloody day with the DCs all of school!
