Aarghhh - all over the news and papers. No I am not excited that two over priviledged toffs are getting married. Don't really care and can't understand people who do really Hmm.

What does this mean for us - the people of Britain? Errr not much really.

"Dreafully unpatriotic", "history in the making"? For god's sake.

In case you hadn't noticed, there's history in the making all around us. We just don't get to see it, now the bloody royal wedding's dominating the media.

It's a national disgrace.

bemybebe · 28/04/2011 23:19

What do you get out of Xmas Tod? We are having a street party and, hopefully, will see some new faces... I think it is great!

pigletmania · 28/04/2011 23:21

Dont care if Wills and Kate are getting wed, just want a chance to celebrate and show some patriotism and stick two fingers up at PC idiots.

don't be so mean spirited OP. There is enough miserable shit in folks lives, without a happy occasion being scorned.

FFS, my good friends DD aged 5 has just been diagnosed with cancer. Can we not just be happy for one instant about something without some clever dick being all po faced about it?

It's a happy occasion, just enjoy it without all the snidey blah. Life is seriously too short...........

I actually feel sorry for you (and me also) - all the brits. You guys have NO national holidays that truly unite the nation. Dutch have the Queens day. Russian have the Victory day. It is really party time. We don't know how to party, there are plenty of people who fell compelled to spoil the fun for the rest. [cgrin] Won't happen here!

Scarletbanner · 28/04/2011 23:25

YANBU. I couldn't care less about it either. The people camping out on the Mall seem like a different species - I just really, really don't get it Confused Glad to find out that I'm not alone.

FunnysInTheGarden · 28/04/2011 23:26

No, it's meant to give you some perspective. Have a bit of respect SWC

Can we not just enjoy the good things in life, like weddings and other joyful occasions without all of this puerile bitterness?

scottishmummy · 28/04/2011 23:27

lol i see all the diana conspiracy theorists have arrived. gawd now they can get really bulgy eyed and share their half baked theories and guesses.all gleaned from internet and parpy newspapers

Oh I'm happy about lots of things and don't need someone elses wedding to make me so thanks, would be pretty weird if it did Hmm. I am aware life is too short that's why I'd rather not waste any time thinking about it.

So sorry about your friends DD and wish her a speedy recovery.

It just annoys me the way people are harping on 'we should be celebrating- its a day off' FFS not everyone has a 9-5 job that can just grind to a halt because of a fucking wedding, and be bloody thankful thats the case!

Scarletbanner · 28/04/2011 23:28

funnys wtf?

usualsuspect · 28/04/2011 23:30

Too right I'm bitter

My dp losing a days pay fucks me right off

so shove your bunting and partying

OnMeTod · 28/04/2011 23:30

Yes DH will do his usual 14 hour day tomorrow as well.

giraffesCantDanceAtWeddings · 28/04/2011 23:31

I'm not that fussed about it, but a pub near me is doing a bbq day and showing it on a big screen and I did think that might have been quite a good laugh. But am having my dn tomorrow so will spend the day with her instead.

Saw on news people camping out etc - no way could I be arsed with that. All I would think about is - where am I going to pee?

OnMeTod · 28/04/2011 23:32

Don't think his employers have decided yet if they will be paying him extra while everyone's partying away Hmm. Do we really need a royal wedding as an excuse for a party anyway - pretty sad imo.

swc I find your comments extremely rude. And the phrase you are looking for is 'with respect'

The only reason I raised my good friends lovely DD is because in view of her diagnosis, I feel that we should enjoy the positive things in life rather than look down our noses at them and congratulate ourselves on how clever we are to mock and sneer.

It's very easy to be the 'cynic' but rather less so when you have some life experience
