To think River Song is too old for MS's Doctor?

So this doctor is her doctor. Does anyone else think the actress and the character are too old for him? It's not just the physical age, he's just very young in general. River is mid 40s and so cool and sophisticated and the doctor is a bit of a twenty something goofball.

Or is it just me?

fwiw i think river is his mum (smile) and i think the bullet may have killed a baby (ie either one's child)

grrrr Smile

I don't think it's River judging by how angry she was with the younger Doctor. Also don't think she "missed". Of course none of it will be predictable, they'll set up lots of potentials for us to ponder over deliberately knowing they've not given us the full picture and it's something entirely different we know nothing about.

hurry up saturday!!!

My 'saddo'ness has reached new heights.

I. erm. er. Blush dreamed about this last night.

the spaceman took off his helmet and it was captain jack. he looked older.

it turned out that there was a terrible enemy and the only way to save the universe was for the enemy to think the doctor was dead. so one doctor was dead, but the other wasn't and so he saved everything and stopped whatever it was happening and got rid of the enemy before they did whatever they did (my drea did not specify Grin ) that required him to meet jack in history and get killed so he never had to do it.

although I'm not sure how that works because he could just have gone back in time to stop them before they did what they did anyway Hmm and if he'd stopped them he'd never have had to go back in time to get killed which means the other him would never have stopped them

my head hurts.

and. erm.

As soon as I woke, I thought "I must tell them about this" (them being you lot) and came down and turned on the laptop.

It's ok hec last saturday those faces, the silence? kept appearing in my dream. oddly I wasn't as scared of them in it as I was watching it. (wuss)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 02/05/2011 15:49

Rather late to this as I've only just managed to watch it. I agree about Idris Elba being a good choice ? would love to see him give it a go. I used to long for Paul Bettany to get the gig cos I've been in lust with him for years I think he's hugely talented and could do the playful/authoritative/mysterious mix brilliantly, but realistically he's gone too far into Hollywood-world albeit the shite end to come back and be the Doctor now.

Or a female Doctor? Can't think who at the moment though.

GrimmaTheNome · 03/05/2011 23:12

I don't think the Dr can change gender, but looks like we've a young Time Lady ... we're not going to find out the answer to all of this till the end of the series, are we? (I missed the finale of the last series, so still don't know what all that was about.... arghhh)

confuddledDOTcom · 04/05/2011 00:30

Joanna Lumley played a female doctor in Curse of the Fatal Death. She did a pretty good job of it!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 04/05/2011 09:09

I'm sure the Doctor could change gender if he wanted to! If nothing else it would generate loads of buzz, so I can imagine the writers being quite up for it.
