These potatoes would be golf ball size.

Five is my usual serving that I dish up to guests/family. Then keep half a serving dish full warm for "seconds".

activate · 13/04/2011 19:49

probably 4 or 5 - the smaller kids will have 2 - 3 (aged 6 and 10) and the older ones around 6 or 7

plus a whole heap of them cold out of the fridge later - the only reason for roast dinners is left-over roasties if you ask me

activate · 13/04/2011 19:49

plus 2 x yorkshires minimum each

pilates · 13/04/2011 19:49

4 for adults, 2 for children.

hardhatdonned · 13/04/2011 19:49

4 usually and by the end of the meal it usually ends up as 6 Blush (Admittedly its swapsies for parsnips or similar)

GreenEyesandHam · 13/04/2011 19:50

Six easily.

My favourite food

compo · 13/04/2011 19:50

3 or 4 but dh will insist on serving me 4 or 5

mayorquimby · 13/04/2011 19:50

I'd have at least 6.

GeorgeEliot · 13/04/2011 19:50

YANBU

marmaladetwatkins · 13/04/2011 19:51

Twenty.

theyoungvisiter · 13/04/2011 19:51

I would have three. But I would pig myself on roast parsnips.

DH would have (quite seriously) about 12 if they are the kind he likes. Plus roast parsnips. But he is a medical mystery with the metabolism of a shrew so...

SeriousWispaHabit · 13/04/2011 19:51

I would have 4, DH would have about 9, DD1 would eat 2, DD2 would throw 1 at the cat (9 months old and not completely getting weaning).

If catering for a big group I would allow about 5 per adult.

hocuspontas · 13/04/2011 19:51

Yikes! No wonder I'm a fat git! I have about 10 then go back for more. Love them!

OeufaBrain · 13/04/2011 19:51

3 or 4. Depending on how many yorkies there were each too!
2 if I had also done roasted sweet potatoes.
I love fried roasties the next day with mushrooms and fried egg

EGGceptionalbeEGGleeyes · 13/04/2011 19:52

Don't countSmile
But always cook more than you think you're going to eat, then double it.
I love roast potatoes.

MaundyBra · 13/04/2011 19:52

2-5 depending on how hungry I was and what other stuff was available.

Why are you asking. Is this an AIBU by stealth? (e.g. My MIL eats 6 potatoes, AIBU to only serve 3 to the greedy cow?)

hildathebuilder · 13/04/2011 19:52

normally 3 occasionally 4. I can't believe 6 is a normal portion

If I'm cooking for a group I usually allow about 3 big potatoes per person, the kind that make 2-3 roasties each.

latrucha · 13/04/2011 19:52

I agree. Always do more. Smile

Golfball - 3 for my son and 5 for me lol

PigeonMalteaserMadness · 13/04/2011 19:54

Four or five but then I don't eat the meat. I always do more anyway for mash / bubble and squeak.

MavisEasterbunny · 13/04/2011 19:57

3, 4 if particularly hungry
