These potatoes would be golf ball size.

6/7 decent sized-ie LARGE. I hate it when you go to a gastro pub or someone's home for sunday lunch and they serve 2-3 tiny ones. I feel cheated!

Soups · 13/04/2011 21:09

I'd probably have 3 small or 2 normal, so about total of a medium jacket spud (250 to 300g?).

If I'm cooking for guests I estimate 5 or 6 each, if people are really hungry it's something people like to fill up on. If there's any left they get used in the next days dinner, they go very well in a frittata. We don't do any other kind of potato, but do have roast carrots and parsnips.

WowOoo · 13/04/2011 21:10

About 4, but then I have about 4-6 small yorkshires. My ultimate fave thing.

DuelingFanjo · 13/04/2011 21:11

if the potatoes are golfball size and you've halved them then I would want 8.

goodbyemrschips · 13/04/2011 21:12

I would'nt havle a golf ball size one.

Far more than I should have but can't eat Yorkshires as gluten free. I normally do four halves of a medium potato for adults, three for one child, two for the other. And then try not to do any "spares" as I can snaffle them very quickly.

Whatevs · 13/04/2011 21:15

I cut potatoes in half before roasting. Would prob have six pieces (so 3 spuds) each for grown ups, 3 pieces (1 and half spuds) per child. Plus enough for second helpings for at least some of us Grin. Sometimes do mash and/or sweet potato mash, too (DS loves mash and gravy) and usually do Yorkshire puds (2 each for adults, 1 for kids, plus a few 'spare' ).

Piggles · 13/04/2011 21:19

I'd probably only have 2 myself and then fill up on veg and lean meat because I only have to look at a roast potato to pile on the pounds, but DH would make up for it. I suspect that if I roasted a whole sack of potatoes he'd find room for them somewhere in his scrawny little tummy Envy

Mumofaflump · 13/04/2011 21:23

As many as I can fit on the plate and however many I can steal off of DF's plate when he isn't looking! I love roasties to the point of obsession. Especially the way DF cooks them....

Mmmmmmmmmmmm

SecretNutellaFix · 13/04/2011 21:35

We only get 2 each when over at PIL for lunch, plus 2 boiled potatoes or 3 if they're very small.

If I do it myself, then there would be about 6 each and no boiled spuds.

ChocolateTeacup · 13/04/2011 21:49

2 here as well

etyksm · 13/04/2011 21:54

DH comes from a family whose mantra is "you can never have too many roast potatos"
I tend to do how many I think is loads and then do even more!
I've yet to have any left over!

exoticfruits · 13/04/2011 22:02

2 or 3

stillbroody · 13/04/2011 22:04

2
3 if there isn't much veg

hotcrossyummymummy · 13/04/2011 22:13

3 or 4 probably.

DH would probably have 7 or 8.

copycat · 13/04/2011 22:14

None. DH and DSs would have 3 or 4 each.

theyoungvisiter · 13/04/2011 22:14

Shock at all you people saying TWO!

Is that two for you, or two for all your guests as well? DH would consider two roasties as legitimate grounds for divorce. I'd certainly be banned from ever cooking Sunday lunch again. [hmm... ponders... strokes beard... maybe not such a bad idea after all?]

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/04/2011 22:17

I am fat and greedy but would only have 3.

Bit0fFunnyBunny · 14/04/2011 01:06

Two or three.

cantspel · 14/04/2011 01:08

Yorkshire pudding is the bestest thing that us brits ever invented.

It is the same batter that is used to make pancakes, so a mix of flour, egg and milk wich is whisked together to make a thick batter. Then you put it into a hot oiled tray and in to a hot oven for around 30 minutes. The batter will rise and you end up with a yorkshire pudding just like these
