These potatoes would be golf ball size.

peabody yes roasties with mint sauce. Lovely! :) It's making me really hungry I could just eat a plate full of roasties and yorkshire puds with lashings of gravy. yum yum.

MsScarlettInTheLibrary · 13/04/2011 20:14

Golf ball size, probably one. My roasties are considerably smaller than that and I tend to eat 1-2 (skin on) but often I opt out of the potato option.

UrsulaBuffay · 13/04/2011 20:14

How big is the plate? Grin

Sparkletastic · 13/04/2011 20:14

none [miserable and low-carbing emoticon]

goodbyemrschips · 13/04/2011 20:14

starting another thread about gravy.

Golf ball size is very small though isn't it?

If there were only golf ball size then I would say 5 or 6. But most people I would think would have them double that size so they are nice and crispy on the outside with lovely fluffy-nes inside to soak up the gravy..........

mmmmmmmmmmmm

Probably 7 or 8. One Christmas I had 13, so now I insist on a minimum of 13 each on Xmas day.
Roast potatoes are my favourite bit.

mitochondria · 13/04/2011 20:16

Five or six. Husband would have ten. Son 1 doesn't like them, but would have 3 big parsnips. Son 2 would have one.

storminabuttercup · 13/04/2011 20:17

bout six or 7 golf ball size, but not with another potato and less if we have roast parsnips/sweede...i'm a greedy cow though!

mitochondria · 13/04/2011 20:17

We make plenty. If there are any left over I freeze them for making bubble and squeak or chucking on the top of casserole for non-dumpling eaters.

Groovymoves · 13/04/2011 20:27

At least 6. Inlaws only serve 2 each but do mash aswell.

Now I really want some roasties drool

LittleMissFluffBrain · 13/04/2011 20:32

I usually have 3. I could quite easily have 4 though! Blush

EggyFucker · 13/04/2011 20:33

Some of you lot need Dr Christian's Food Chute

ifancyashandy · 13/04/2011 20:33

2-3. Am Shock and Shock'ed again at you greedy lot!

choux · 13/04/2011 20:38

1-2 only. I would have lots of meat and veg and a yorkshire or stuffing or whatever comes with it. At the end I may have another if a) they were fab roasties and b) I was still hungry and c) there was no dessert.

I'm a bit surprised how many some of you are claiming you would have. They are tasty but they have v limited nutritional value.

HSMM · 13/04/2011 20:40
  1. + yorkshire pud with any kind of roast
kaid100 · 13/04/2011 20:41

Five each, with a few spares for seconds

Oblomov · 13/04/2011 20:45

Funny thread. Ds's eat 3, dh and I maybe 6. Ds1 eats atleast 4 yorkshires. we have yorkshires with everyhting, even roast chicken.
And who mentioned gravy. God, I love gravy.
Is this healthier than the old hcbuns for breaskfast ? Wink
probably not. best leave that one there, ruby !!

ginmakesitallok · 13/04/2011 20:47

Golf ball size????????? Loads. In fact loads and LOADS - I love roast potatoes. I don't eat them for nutritional value Confused I eat them because I LOVE them. Roast spuds are the only food where I get the nicest ones and the kids can fight over the rest.

LadyOfTheManor · 13/04/2011 20:59

I'd probably serve myself 2 or 3 my dh has about 4 or 5 (he's rather tall and into training and eats so much). My MIL however serves me EIGHT potatoes on a Sunday and my dh about 12....

onepieceofcremeegg · 13/04/2011 21:03

Mil serves me about one and a half. And they are Aunt Bessies or similar. She serves dh none because they are coated with gluten which he can't have. We don't go there for lunch much for some reason Hmm

Madsometimes · 13/04/2011 21:08

About 6 if golf ball size, maybe more. We don't usually have yorkshires though. Maybe 4 with a Yorkshire.
