I mean, it's not like your knickers need a full cycle to get clean?

DH and I wash our smalls after a shower/bath - they are never in the main laundry. My kids boxers/knickers are washed in washing machine with the rest of theit laundry though.

I thought about this this morning when I went to drop off my friends son. My friend had the whole washing line outside full of boxers and knickers!

I don't understand what your gripe is. Are you saying you only hand wash your underwear? My washing machine has a half load or delicates option.

JeelyPiece · 12/03/2011 12:36

eh?

I prefer my smalls to be washed in the machine as the water is hotter, prevents recurrent thrush that we had a big problem with at one point.

ShirleyKnot · 12/03/2011 12:37

What the actual fuck?

Ooopsadaisy · 12/03/2011 12:37

It all goes in together in the house of Ooops.

I do make sure I have a full load, though.

If I only had a few bits then I would hand wash, but we create enough to not have anything hanging around too long before it goes in the machine.

usualsuspect · 12/03/2011 12:38

I don't know what to say

MilkNoSugarPlease · 12/03/2011 12:38

Hmm yabu, just sling em in with the other washing, or use a half load or the delicates cycle?

No?

jezebelle · 12/03/2011 12:38

It would never cross my mind to not put underwear in the machine with the other washing, you're the first person i've ever heard of that does this, so yes i think your thoughts are unreasonable !!

BaronessBomburst · 12/03/2011 12:38

Yuk!

Although, obviously if you're an android who doesn't sweat in the crotch area, have periods, or fart, it will be fine.

fizzyliftinggas · 12/03/2011 12:38

Brew whilst my smalls spin round gleefully in the washing machine.... Lazy.... Not in my opinion!

Maylee · 12/03/2011 12:39
Shock
OliPolly · 12/03/2011 12:40

oops, just me then? I think its rank too keep dirty underwear for a few days whilst waiting for laundry day!

firsttimemum77 · 12/03/2011 12:40

Yabu - I find washing knickers / boxers in the washing machine cleaner then washing by hand. I put them in with towels, socks etc on a higher temp then usual to wash to 'clean' properly - any other way I just don't find, personally, hygienic. I generally find that clothes washed in the machine smells nicer once dried than clothes washed by hand.

usualsuspect · 12/03/2011 12:42

You have a laundry day?

TrillianAstra · 12/03/2011 12:42

You are a bit mad.

Surely it's laziness to wash anything in the washing machine rather thn by hand?

That's what the machine is for, to wash your clothes.

NettoSuperstar · 12/03/2011 12:44

Ugh, why would you hand wash someone else's pants?
You'd have to touch their gussets

JeelyPiece · 12/03/2011 12:45

How come it's rank to keep dirty underwear for a couple of days till you stick it in the machine, when you say that they are apparently less dirty than the rest of your clothes?

DwayneDibley · 12/03/2011 12:45

eh?

Oh you mean....

eh?

suzikettles · 12/03/2011 12:46

So, are you washing your pants in the bath or shower with you each night? So the water isn't all that hot and you're presumably just using shower gel or similar?

Each to their own, but that does sound a little eccentric...
