DH and I wash our smalls after a shower/bath - they are never in the main laundry. My kids boxers/knickers are washed in washing machine with the rest of theit laundry though.

I thought about this this morning when I went to drop off my friends son. My friend had the whole washing line outside full of boxers and knickers!

Wouldn't handwash - perfectly effective (the rest of the world copes that way) but uses a lot of water and soap. A cold machine wash is more efficient. Dirty stuff gets a pre-soak in Napisan.

No point in doing a hot wash as that will sets stains in place and, unless you boil at 90 degrees, the heat doesn't kill the bugs anyway.

Our skin is coated with fungi and bacteria anyway and our vaginas are normally infested with bugs so being fastidious about sterilising clothes is mad when we are just going to put them on again. I just want my clothes clean. 30deg short wash for most, hand wash for the fancy stuff. Are you people who hand wash your own underwear handwashing your husband's as well (or insisting he hand wash it)?
50 degrees would ruin alot of my underwear.
