To hate smokers

I have just spent ten days in hospital with my gorgeous dd2 as she slowly recovered from pneumonia. I met lots of great doctors and nurses they were amazing. But the majority of parents were scum. Children kept being admitted with asthma, tiny children struggling to breathe. One 18 month old was on her third admission. Almost every parent smoked, and so did every person who came to visit these poor kids. Then every few hours they have to leave the kids and go for a fag. They made the ward stink.
Wouldn't you think your baby gasping for air and screaming in terror would be enough to stop you smoking?
Bloody scum

crazypanda, think you mean SITE, not SIGHT.

And how can you stand there and say that driving cars has a purpose, so it doesn't harm children's health in the same way as smoking?

Walking along a pavement on a busy road in a pushchair at the same height as a car exhaust is healthy?

BaroqinAroundTheCunt · 16/02/2011 23:48

ACTUALLY - as they cotinue to tax tobacco products the hilt more and more people are going black market (Eastern European) or duty free - and they're starting to lose out on shit loads of money (but still get in more than it costs)

(articles from 2009 indicate that roughly £3 billion for alcohol, and £5 billion for smoking). However in previous years it was estimated that £6 billion or so was lost in productivity in other areas due to alochol.

crazypanda · 16/02/2011 23:48

i did'nt say cars were healthy, but smoking is far worse.

BaroqinAroundTheCunt · 16/02/2011 23:48

and WTF is crazypanda on labelling people as being "ill" because she doesn't like what they have to say Shock

BooyFuckingHoo · 16/02/2011 23:50

"you are clearly showing signs of illness, what ,i do not know, but that you are a imature ranter, direct your crap at someone else,i post on mn to talk to like minded adults, the children are in bed,so fk o and do the same!."

ok you cannot say someone is showing signs of something but that you don't know what. you eiether recognise my behaviour as a sign of a mental illness or you are just grasping at straws (and pretty low digs at that) in order to insult me like the oh so mature adult that you are.

and what does "so fk o and do the same!." mean? Confused

Salmotrutta · 16/02/2011 23:51

See - you turn your back for 5 minutes and it all kicks off.

BooyFuckingHoo · 16/02/2011 23:52

BooyFuckingHoo · 16/02/2011 23:53

and why are you being so unbelievably hostile towards me? i am aware i quoted your post, but i mean, this is a huuuuge over reaction. if you don't want people responding to what you write then dont write it.

crazypanda · 16/02/2011 23:54

anyway boo like i said i don't want to talk to you,you clearly just want to argue ,and i don't.

Professor · 16/02/2011 23:55

Look at this way...whatever folk do, smoke, drink, eat, drink coffe, drive cars, whatever. It should be down to personal choice.

And if a parent chooses to smoke, then they are not just going to sit in front of their DCs and puff in their faces, are they?

As parents, we know the risks and smoke outside or wherever, not in front of the DCs.

Obese parents, however, usually sit in front of their DCs, gorging themselves in full view.

We tell our children that smoking is bad, we don't tell them that eating is bad, do we?

BooyFuckingHoo · 16/02/2011 23:55

i really would rather know your justification for calling me mentally ill. i mean, when you accuse someone of that, you sort of have to be prepared to back it up. or were you jsut being plain nasty?

crazypanda · 16/02/2011 23:56

boo you are the one attacking me,i just want to chata bit before bed,not do three rounds in the ring!.

Mists · 16/02/2011 23:56

LadyWellian · 16/02/2011 23:57

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 16/02/2011 23:57

Scum? Shock YABU

And TakeItOnTheChins - sneering at people and calling them "common" is, in itself, terribly déclassé, darling...

BaroqinAroundTheCunt · 16/02/2011 23:58

Crazypand - you're, ermm, a bit argumentative aren't you and sarcastic Hmm (not just this thread - other ones you've posted on)

Professor · 16/02/2011 23:58

Okay, think I'll just leave this argument nowGrin
