To hate smokers

I have just spent ten days in hospital with my gorgeous dd2 as she slowly recovered from pneumonia. I met lots of great doctors and nurses they were amazing. But the majority of parents were scum. Children kept being admitted with asthma, tiny children struggling to breathe. One 18 month old was on her third admission. Almost every parent smoked, and so did every person who came to visit these poor kids. Then every few hours they have to leave the kids and go for a fag. They made the ward stink.
Wouldn't you think your baby gasping for air and screaming in terror would be enough to stop you smoking?
Bloody scum

And if every smoker quit tomorrow the NHS would be in serious trouble.

Us smokers fund the NHS quit5e a bit.

crazypanda · 17/02/2011 00:02

i'm only saying, thatv because the way she was being hostile, that it looks that way,and yes i do have knowledge of mental illness.

Tortington · 17/02/2011 00:03

theere is no justification for smoking.

also a poor argument is to state that smoking is bad but so are exhaust fumes/over eating etc. by saying something else is also bad, doesn't betract from the argument that smoking is bad.

i just cannot defend smokers, and i am one.

Hecate's got it right - there's no disputing the fact that smoking is bad for you and anyone else who has to breathte the smoke in, and it does make you, your clothes, your hair, your house stink (if you smoke in the house that is). And discolours the walls and everything else in your house so the evidence of what it is doing to your lungs is right there on your walls.

Why can't the smokers on this thread just man up and admit it's a filthy habit which they wish they didn't have but they admit they disregard all that because they like doing it? And admit that the only reason they are in good health now despite being a smoker is that they are still young and the damage isn't yet too obvious. Don't be ignorant about it, FGS! Maybe I should let the retired lady who lives next door to me come and live next to you for a week - you'll soon see how charming you will sound each and every morning in 35 years' time as you cough your guts up for 20 minutes just trying to get rid of the tar on your lungs that YOU have put there. Such a lovely sound to hear through the window every day!

In years to come no-one will smoke and they will look back at you smokers in horror and disbelief and with a sense of amazement that you CHOSE to ingest that poison. In the same way we look back to years ago when it was very common for people to chew tobacco and think "Fuck, how the hell could they DO that?!". In fact it's worse, because we KNOW that it's poison. Years ago, the evidence just wasn't there and people did it out of pure ignorance.

All I'm saying is.........smokers - don't bloody kid yourselves.

Rant over. Can you tell I fucking hate smoking? Grin

Tortington · 17/02/2011 00:03

oh and no excuse for name calling either, pack it in - what are you ...12?

Salmotrutta · 17/02/2011 00:04

Baroquin - the Posh restaurant rant thread was back around November/December when an anti-smoking PFB Mum took her mother to lunch at a posh London restaurant that only had two (yes, two) indoor tables. So they sat outside (in freezing weather)next to a Chiminier heater but, shock and horror, a leathery woman and her much younger male friend came along and smoked next to her child. And they refused to move after a request by the poster. And they only had coffee!
That thread was epic.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 17/02/2011 00:04

"i just cannot defend smokers, and i am one." Custardo, can you tell the rest of 'em?!

Monty27 · 17/02/2011 00:05

Crazy hostile. Don't think so. You're still on here so it hasn't bothered you anyway.

As for your last comment. I won't comment.

ermmm where did the other smokers on the thread (I'm on btw) defend smokers????

I think you'll find crazypanda - that telling someone that they're mentally ill (you obviously have NO Idea of MH issues......) is extremely hostile - and also a personal attack (so it's been reported).

crazypanda · 17/02/2011 00:11

whatever boo,not interested in what you have to say to be honest.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 17/02/2011 00:11

Listen here, girls, the headmaster will be out in a minute and give you a detention.

I am going to bed. This place gets silly when all this starts up.

BaroqinAroundTheCunt · 17/02/2011 00:11

and Grin - thanks Salmontrutta -

BaroqinAroundTheCunt · 17/02/2011 00:12

well guess what crazy - we're not interested in what you have to say either Wink

Salmotrutta · 17/02/2011 00:12

Actually I totally agree with custardo - I cannot defend my smoking - but I sure as hell won't put up with others judging me when they aren't perfect.
And what the heck is all this nastiness regarding mental health?

An opinion is an opinion - just cause it differs from yours does not mean the person is mentally ill. Confused

BooyFuckingHoo · 17/02/2011 00:12

why not crazy? can you not back up what you said? do you honestly think i am displaying signs of mental illness? do you stand by that comment?
