Is 32 too young for botox?

AngryBeaver · 09/02/2011 20:10

I'm interested. I have a friend who has told me she has botox. She is beautiful and only 30-32.
I have noticed since I had my 3 rd baby a few months ago that my nose to mouth lines are more noticeable...it bothers me and since speaking to friend am considering going to the clinic with her.
My mum and other friends think it's ridiculous to start on this path so young a la Jordan, and have changed their opinion on friend since hearing she has botox/facial peels etc
Is it unreasonable to consider cosmetic procedures this young/at all?

any age is too young for putting poisin in your face, freezing your facial expressions and making like a Barbie doll

I expect I shall get shouted down though < shrugs >

CaveMum · 09/02/2011 20:13

I suggest you pop your TV on to Channel 4 right now and watch Beauty and the Beast, then think again about cosmetic procedures.

I watched it last week and it was a real eye opener.

AngryBeaver · 09/02/2011 20:14

I don't think you will,tbh.
fwiw, her face doesn't seem frozen at all, just smooth

You are too young.I have had it this year and am 46 The surgeon didn't think I really needed it and so I had a tiny amount. You really don't need that in your 30s.

theresapotatoundermysink · 09/02/2011 20:14

YANBU, But I have to agree with AnyFucker. I find the whole plastic surgery thing weird.

Alouiseg · 09/02/2011 20:14

Nose to mouth lines wouldn't be botoxed, filler would be used there and mouth to chin lines.

noddyholder · 09/02/2011 20:15

I can still move my face

warthog · 09/02/2011 20:15

not if you're gordon ramsay.

seriously - they did brain scans of people who used botox and found it had been absorbed. doesn't just stay in the skin.

i wouldn't.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 20:15

smooth, like a Barbie doll

not a natural state to be

which looks really odd when you are 70 Hmm

theresapotatoundermysink · 09/02/2011 20:15

Or YABU, I can't figure out which way round...Confused.

FaffTastic · 09/02/2011 20:16

Botox is realy only for eyes and forehead. If its nose to mouth lines it would prob need to be fillers.

For what its worth, I know people who get botox at the age of 32 and I don't think they're vain. Its when people start getting botox AND fillers AND lip fillers etc that the whole look goes OTT and fake looking.

theresapotatoundermysink · 09/02/2011 20:16

YABU. That's my final verdict.

roadtrain · 09/02/2011 20:16

I agree with AnyFucker.

I bet you look nice as you are.

TattyDevine · 09/02/2011 20:16

Irrelevant about youth or not - the nasio labial folds (that sounds gross but that's what they are called) are not fixed with Botox, which is more of a forehead/eyes thing.

You need fillers Grin

Its not a case of too young or not anyway, its a case of do you or dont you, and only you can decide that. Sometimes you can only decide by trying for yourself because there are a lot of myths out there about Botox and fillers and how they may or may not make you look, depending also on your practitioner.

verytellytubby · 09/02/2011 20:17

Botox scares me. My friend's vain dad had it and it leaked down the side of his face and he looked like he'd had a stroke for 6 months.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 20:17

Grin @ tapums

CaveMum · 09/02/2011 20:18

I'm talking more from the point of view that cosmetic surgery for vanity reasons (as opposed to reconstructive/medical reasons) is, IMHO opinion, totally unnecessary.

[prepares for flaming]

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 09/02/2011 20:21

I would consider it at that age, but I would keep the amount teeeeny, and only in my forehead- but I'm getting a pretty big line there at 25, because I'm a prat and spent years not knowing I needed glasses and ended up squinting all the time.

Lip to mouth needs fillers but you need to be very careful- if start out with a peel if I were you and go from there.

Yanbu

theresapotatoundermysink · 09/02/2011 20:23

'Tapums'. . I like it.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 09/02/2011 20:26

It's not too young for some people. Im 38 and I am ready now...I am having restylane soon for my ccats bum mouth.

(old hag emoticon)

DuelingFanjo · 09/02/2011 20:26

The world has gone crazy when people in their thirties think they need botox. It makes you look old anyway.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 09/02/2011 20:27

Yes....Tatty Devine is right....Restlane is a filler and good for thoe nose to mouth lines.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 20:29

yes, I liked "tapums" when I typed it too

like being "tapped" or lazy, like a tapir

are tapirs lazy ? like sloths ?

cavemum I totally agree with you

why do people have non-essential plastic surgery/mess about with their faces ?

I don't get it, and I really do not think it makes you look better, sorry

it just makes you look odd

especially when your face looks like a baby's bum and your neck looks like the middle-aged woman that you undoubtedly are

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 09/02/2011 20:29

Better to get it done when you're thirty though, that way you're preventing wrinkles coming in so badly

seaweedhead · 09/02/2011 20:31

I agree with anyfucker.
