Is 32 too young for botox?

I'm interested. I have a friend who has told me she has botox. She is beautiful and only 30-32.
I have noticed since I had my 3 rd baby a few months ago that my nose to mouth lines are more noticeable...it bothers me and since speaking to friend am considering going to the clinic with her.
My mum and other friends think it's ridiculous to start on this path so young a la Jordan, and have changed their opinion on friend since hearing she has botox/facial peels etc
Is it unreasonable to consider cosmetic procedures this young/at all?

AF - if I'd married into the Wildenstein family I think I'd get depressed enough to blow all their money on plastic surgery too! They are a notoriously obnoxious clan.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 21:33

"clan of the cavemum" Grin

freshmint · 09/02/2011 21:33

I think botox is a feminist issue

Lets all age gracefully, folks. So much more chic than desperately trying to cling to your youth. And not kidding anyone...

muttznuttz · 09/02/2011 21:36

It's a good point about air brushing...what you see is definitely not what you get in magazines.

Even on TV shows, they're caked with studio make-up so they tend to look better than they probably are.

I think Polyfiller for my face and Polygrip for my fanny is the way to go when I get old Grin

LadyBiscuit · 09/02/2011 21:36

And what is so wrong with lines?

AngryBeaver · 09/02/2011 21:40

freshmintI agree in theory, and would love to..but it's not going to happen. I hate that about myself. I blame my mother! She was always saying, make the best of yourself, put a little bit of lippy on,don't eat that etc

What about celebs who are aging gracefully? I think they look better than those who have had their faces pulled so high they almost have eyes on the back of their head. For example Sally Field looks great.

CaveMum · 09/02/2011 21:43

AF Grin

"Clan of the Cavemum" - I like the sound of that! I may adopt said name and get a brass plaque made for our house, when I eventually get upduffed!

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 21:47

AB...you have a mind of your own yes ?

glad you like it, cavemum Smile

BlackSwan · 09/02/2011 21:54

Botox...no. But StriVectin? Yes. Rub in wonders are AOK.

AngryBeaver · 09/02/2011 21:55

yes I do,af...but years of being told that has an effect. I know it's wrong,i know I shouldn't let that overshadow my life, but some of your parents values are bound to influence you,no?

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 21:57

Of course, but you can make a conscious decision to not let them over-ride your own values

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 21:58

if I had let my parents values over-ride my own I would be a child-abusing no-mark now < shrugs >

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 21:59

I realise that is off-topic, but worth mentioning, I think, in the context within which you raised it, AB

northerngirl41 · 09/02/2011 22:00

YABU - why would you put Botulism into your face? That's one reason, but a better reason is that it really doesn't give a nice effect.

I've had a few friends who've had it done and actually been at one of the infamous Botox parties when it first came over, and to be honest the people who had it done just look a bit odd.

Chemical peels on the other hand are definitely the way to go - I know 3 people who have had them and they look simply marvellous! A true transformation and much, much better than another couple of friends who've had full facelifts.

Get thee to a clinic (if you really want it done- it is quite painful!)

40mumkeepingyoung · 09/02/2011 22:03

I would say don't do it!! I'm 40 and never liked the lines around my eyes and side of my mouth. I use an amazing hand held device- a galvanic spa with products that plump and fill lines whilst also lifting too! My friend used to get fillers a year or so ago but has never had any since she used this. The lines at the side of her mouth have gone!! Honestly. I won't bore you with the science behind it but its brilliant.Nicole Kidman uses it too!

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 22:05

Nicole Kidman's face would put me off anything Hmm

AngryBeaver · 09/02/2011 22:14

I understand what you mean af.I suppose what you're talking about though is on a different scale though.
40mum..what's it called?!sounds great

OP posts:
BlackSwan · 09/02/2011 22:15

Actually Nicole Kidman recently said she had used botox, but doesn't any more, because she doesn't like it.

She's beautiful.

AnyFucker · 09/02/2011 22:15

Yes, it's on a different scale Smile

same ethos, though

AngryBeaver · 09/02/2011 22:15

I said though a lot there Smile

In the interests of keeping the botox parties at bay...may I hijack the thread & ask which products you think actually live up to their rejuvenating claims?

CaveMum · 09/02/2011 22:36

I find having very oily combination skin keeps the wrinkles at bay Wink
My mum's skin is the same and at 56 has hardly any lines! It makes all those angst-filled spotty teenage years worth it!

ohboob · 09/02/2011 22:40

I can beat 32. I had botox at 23.

In my back Wink It's used to stop muscle spasms.
