According to It's Wiki page it ran from 1993 to 1997 originally.

Everything is just so .... old looking!

Ooh, we love it. Aunt Mabel is a goddess in our house. Grin

Pippin's mum lived round the corner from DH when he was a teenager - she was famous too!

Rockbird · 04/01/2011 13:44

Noooooo, DD loves it, really loves it. She's 2.11, she doesn't know or care that it looks dated. And I love looking at Aunty Mabel's granny chic bungalow.

WowOoo · 04/01/2011 13:46

We still like them. Ds2 LOVES Pippin.

Nice to see something old actually. Even if it's for the 12th time!

llareggub · 04/01/2011 13:47

Both my children love Come Outside, and have actually learned quite a bit from it. There is nothing my eldest son can't tell you about the sewage process, for example!

Such an odd programme though. Did they really sit there and say right, let's get a friendly older woman, give her a plan, oh, and a dog, and find random things for her to do.

The episode where she was fixing the hole in her wall stood out as a classic for me. How on earth does one get a hole in the wall?

LaWeaselMys · 04/01/2011 13:47

DD loves it - gets excited when she sees pippin.

I love the carpet, wallpaper, and flying to the shops!

wonderstuff · 04/01/2011 13:47

My 3 yo loves Pippin - she worries when he gets lost and we have tears during the bricks episode (even though shes seen it 3 times)
I love it, makes me feel all nostalgic

BornToFolk · 04/01/2011 13:48

They can't stop showing it, it's DS's current favourite!
It's timeless, IMHO. Though I do worry that Auntie Mabel manages to lose Pippin in almost every episode...

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 04/01/2011 13:50

but it's like Brum - they "updated" brum - and its just not the same. My DS's loved their DVD they had of the old version.

DanceInTheDark · 04/01/2011 13:51

Yes mine all love Pippin (DS1 still does and he is 7 now!) but ......i can see i have lost this one Grin

TheCrackFox · 04/01/2011 13:52

It used to be DS1's favourite programme. He is 9 now but whenever I see a dog that looks like Pippin it makes me a bit misty eyed.

mufti · 04/01/2011 13:52

we love it just as it is.

Rockbird · 04/01/2011 13:53

Yes, you've lost. Bugger orf and leave it alone :o

My favourite episode is the one where she makes the tarts and then has the random children around to bang spoons together in her front room. A less convincing musical performance I never saw. But I still love it :)

MaryMungo · 04/01/2011 13:54

DD Is 4 and loves it. She asked for a wooly jumper for Christmas Grin

JamieLeeCurtis · 04/01/2011 13:54

I love it. We were watching it when mine were toddlers, an you do realise Auntie Mabel was old-fashioned then, don't you? The decor was out of my grandmother's era

Chil1234 · 04/01/2011 13:55

The fairground-style theme music in a minor key used to make my DS (normally quite a well-balanced little soul) run from the room in terror. :)

saffy85 · 04/01/2011 13:55

I don't mind it really. Aunty Mabel's house reminds me of my gran's house Grin DD aged 3 loves the show, knows all the words to the song and wants a dog just like Pippin.

As a side note I hated Brum as a child and even more so since they updated it

Firawla · 04/01/2011 13:55

yabu i like it the old version, kind of refreshing in a way to see something old on there iyswim? and 2 yr ds enjoys it so no problem with it in our house.

MaryMungo · 04/01/2011 13:55

DD Is 4 and loves it. She asked for a wooly jumper for Christmas Grin

bullet234 · 04/01/2011 13:56

Ds1 loves the programme. He cornered his granddad yesterday, lecturing him on how bread is made and how welly boots are made, reciting from the episodes he'd seen Grin.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 04/01/2011 13:56

Oh I love it and so does DS (27mths). We snuggle up on the sofa to watch it most mornings. I love the feeling of familiarity it gives me as it reminds me of when I was a child going to my Nains house. I love the old-fashionedness and the random outings she goes on. Why the aeroplane I don't know! But you learn so much from it. I hope that they keep on playing it.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/01/2011 13:57

Auntie Mabel went out to look for pippin in her aeroplane today.
I'm worried for her mental health.
Is that really the easiest way to look for your dog, bearing in mind you left it on the bus in the city?

Indith · 04/01/2011 13:57

Noooo Come Outside has to stay, dd absolutely adores it. She worships Pippin. All dogs are called Pippin, she wraps a scarf around her neck, collects her fisher price dog and sits in a box calling "come on Pippin time to fly".

falsemessageoflethargy · 04/01/2011 13:59

I've learnt a lot from that programme - especially how they get the stripes in toothpaste and where would I be without that sort of essential info hey?
