According to It's Wiki page it ran from 1993 to 1997 originally.

Everything is just so .... old looking!

holes, holes useful holes

never fails to make me snurk

5 years of watching and we have never managed to see the poo one :(

stumpweasel · 04/01/2011 18:21

Shhh... AdverseCamber posted that Pippin has gone to the great dog-kennel in the sky.

MakemineaGandT · 04/01/2011 18:24

agree. And if I have to watch the "poo" one ever again I think I will scream! (DS loves it......!)

If you really want to watch the poo one, it is there, in all its glory, on youtube.

porcamiseria · 04/01/2011 18:28

another fan, I love her granny kitchen

lottiejenkins · 04/01/2011 18:31

All you need to know about Come Outside!!

spiderlight · 04/01/2011 18:31

We love it too. DS is always captivated by the sewage one, and forces me to watch the spider one because 'Spiders are nice, silly mummy!'

cupofteaplease · 04/01/2011 18:34

My dd, Mabel, loves Come Outside! She gets so excited when she hears her own name on the TV.

My eldest dd5, was watching it yesterday and got very excited when they went to the welly boot factory as she swore they were making my boots. Unfortunately, mine aren't Hunter... Hmm

lottiejenkins · 04/01/2011 18:36

OMG!!!!!!!! The reason according to Wikipedia that we never see the crisps episode on tv now is that crisps are considered "an unhealthy snack!"

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 04/01/2011 18:39

YABVVU it would be sacrilege to do so. Auntie Mabel is a legend. I used to watch it with the DDs who are now 17 and 14 and we still sit down and watch if we catch it on the television.

Poppy the cat from Playdays had the worst voice. She whined. And lived on sardines. Bet she stank.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 04/01/2011 18:43

YABU - go away, you horrible lady. Auntie Mabel is lovely (and I refuse to accept she isn't real, living in her lovely bungalow with her spotty plane parked outside), and Pippin(RIP, with his own FB page, not that I'd know) is the dog I never had.

This country needs more Come Outside.

TyraG · 04/01/2011 18:46

The kids hate it, anytime it comes on they yell, "No put something else on".

funtimewincies · 04/01/2011 18:59

Ds1 loves The Clangers which ran from 1969-72 and Ivor The Engine (in colour 1975-77). I'm not a fan of Auntie Mabel but if children still enjoy it, what's the problem?

bluebump · 04/01/2011 19:01

My DS loves Pippin, in fact every dog we see now is called Pippin.

toeragsnotriches · 04/01/2011 19:04

Actually got Ivor the Engine DVD out of the library today. Result? After 2 episodes DS1 and 2 so calm virtually sedated. Come Outside has almost same result.

Then they watched some of Kerwhizz. Ugh.

Maisie I couldn't agree more Smile.

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 04/01/2011 19:15

YABU

I think Aunty Mabel has the solution to Britain's economic crisis, she seems to have singlehandedly rediscovered Britain's manufacturing industry. Every time she leaves the house she finds a factory that makes brushes, or wellies or chairs. Aunty Mabel (or Nabel as dd1 insists) for Chancellor!

I do worry about her getting on a bit though. I mean really a 2 seater aeroplane is not a sustainable mode of transport for an elderly lady. That chip pan fire was the start of a slippery slope if you ask me.

funtimewincies · 04/01/2011 19:22

I agree toerags, it has the same effect on ds1. The aim of programmes from the 70s was to calm children down, now it seems to be to make them more active.

A sign of the times, sadly

toeragsnotriches · 04/01/2011 19:33

Hearing you funtime. So when did the rot set in? Rainbow?

toeragsnotriches · 04/01/2011 19:34

"Holes in the ground, holes in the ground, there are so many different holes to be found"

"Spiders spiders big and small, I like spiders best of all"

Classy.
I love Pippin and Aunty Mabel.
And I am over 40

roomonthebroom · 04/01/2011 20:30

The sewage one is on CBeebies tomorrow. I've added it to my Sky+ planner :0

SantosLHalper · 04/01/2011 20:36

The sewage one is possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen on children telly!
