According to It's Wiki page it ran from 1993 to 1997 originally.

Everything is just so .... old looking!

I just came on to day the poo one is on now again too!

QueenofAllWildThings · 05/01/2011 13:45

Has anyone noticed that on the 'Marmalade' episode where Auntie Mable goes to an orange grove in Spain, it's actually a man in a dress (filmed only from the back?!)

lottiejenkins · 05/01/2011 13:55

not as expensive here as on Amazon!!

Mumi · 05/01/2011 14:33

YABU. Contrary to popular belief, children's heads don't explode when exposed to anything less than 12 months old! :)

changeforthebetter · 05/01/2011 14:41

My kids love it. I like it as a counter balance to all the newer stuff. Do you only read books and see films that are brand new - you would miss out on Casablanca (OK, not saying Come Outside is on a par with Casablanca Grin but you get the point?)

There is a big word for obsession with newness but I can't remember it (or find my house keys and work phone Blush)

MrsChemist · 05/01/2011 15:05

Damn it! I missed to poo episode! Sad

It's just not the same watching it on YouTube

madamimadam · 05/01/2011 15:07

Another Come Outside fan here - or rather, my DS (20mo).He watches it as though it's his Newsnight. And then runs around the house saying 'Oh, Pippin.' I've learnt a lot from it too (Thanks to Aunt Mabel, my chosen specialist subject on Mastermind would be sewage Grin)

I love the fact that Aunt Mabel is a middle-aged woman, too and I wish there was a greater age range of presenters on CBeebies (My favourite person when I was watching kid's tv was Tony Hart). In complete agreement with everyone here about some of the 'gurning' CBeebies presenters (especially bloomin' Nisha... ).

Completely agree with Funtime, too - DS absolutely adores Ivor the Engine. Asks for it every day.

at this rate, I'll be winding up the gramophone for DS this evening...

CognitiveDissident · 05/01/2011 15:13

YABU

I have just watched the poo episode (twice today).

DS2 is ecstatic. Thankyou Aunt Mabel:)

Neophilia= love of new things

Goldenbear · 05/01/2011 15:37

My DS who is 3 used to love it but runs to the tv to switch it off now. I asked him why he didn't like it and he remarked that Pippin was always doing 'silly' things - I was a bit perplexed by this I must admit!

MissRead · 05/01/2011 15:57

I've just read the Wiki article and discovered that Pippin is the dog on the Baker's Complete packaging. This is very annoying because DD has said for years that it is whenever we see it in Tescos and I've always argued that it is a dog like Pippin. I hate it when she gets one over on me!

I adore Come Outside and DD still likes it at 8, it's the ultimate comfort TV and we've spent many happy hours watching it and still do occasionally like this morning as she is off school sick (did wonder if watching the poo episode was a good idea after a night with an upset tummy but my girl's made of strong stuff :) ) Auntie Mabel's dated house, her awful singing and the hilariously wooden people they meet on their travels only add to the charm for me.

CrystalMoon · 05/01/2011 16:15

My DD watches this sometimes, we watched the 'poo' episode today. I agree its one of the better programmes on ceebies. Can be very informative, even if a bit outdated, would be good if they did something similar but up to date. Also like the fact that a few episodes were filmed where I live, the library one and the bus one :)

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 05/01/2011 16:20

When I was at school in the 90's I remember the 3-5's getting to watch an episode of Auntie Mabel once a week after lunch Grin

We loved the bus one here - and I am always keen to record ones that I think dc will be interested in ie the building site as he likes diggers, dandelions as we enjoyed blowing dandelions in the summer, the dentist just days before we actually took him for the first time.

DanceInTheDark · 05/01/2011 16:25

pah i have been well and YABU'd Grin

bloody poo episode, cost me £70 to get the toilet taken off the wall so the plumber could fish out the stuff ds1 had put down it Angry

skyswept · 05/01/2011 20:38

I've not seen it before, it is quite special

"alright, if you really want to.."

carocaro · 05/01/2011 21:18

Can't forgive Aunt Mabel for that time when she moved house and Pippin went missing when the removal men were in, she just shrugged and got in her plane and few off without him to the new house!

It was just luck that he was in the delivery lorry at the new house and got there faster than Mabel in the plane!

DH had to sit through the poo one at lunch today whilst eating pate on toast!

The teapot and marmalade ones are my fave. When DS2 starts school in Sept what will I do then?

rosieposey · 05/01/2011 21:21

My 18 yr old loved it and now she watches it with her 22 month old DB Grin Our cat is called Pippin in homage ...

westlake · 05/01/2011 21:24

haha DS loves pippin, oh who am i kidding.... WE love pippin and his adventures.

westlake · 05/01/2011 21:26

and DH liked the one with the wellies apparently

backwardpossom · 05/01/2011 21:43

The wellies one was good, too. :)

AngeChica · 05/01/2011 21:49

I really wish some more programmes would be commissioned that are like it - its continuing appeal proves programmes don't have to be so "frantic" to captivate children.

This is also why DS likes Something Special right now, though sadly even the newer ones of that are getting a bit infected with the "hectic" silliness.

porcamiseria · 05/01/2011 22:15

IT WAS THE POO ONE TODAY

just what i needed, but loved Pippins trick with the fake poo

DP was gutted to see that Pipping was a bitch

dinnerdinnerdinnerbatman · 06/01/2011 16:57

RIP Pippin Sad

YABU. We love Come Outside, especially the episode where Pippin steals a jam tart.

DD1 got a Come Outside teeshirt for Christmas, with a lovely pic on Pippin on it - she was thrilled.
