DH and I have 3 DC and have always wanted a big family. Despite being in the position to afford four DC whenever I mention having another one people (even family) seem to roll their eyes and think we are mad/stupid

hmmmm a bit mad, but in a nice way.

I have two, but I am secretly dreaming of sudden twins to make it 4!!

DH comes from a family of 4 kids so he would probably be more sympatetic to your plight than most.

If you can afford it and you have the stamina for that many why the hell not.

SalvadorDalek · 28/12/2010 21:09

My friend from toddler group has 4 and DW is one month pregnant with our 3rd so go for it

YANBU I always wanted at least 4. Luckily I had twins to make 3 & 4. People did make comments alot when we had 4. Then we had no 5!! As people knew we had alot of losses including late ones they didn't really make any comments and we just happy for us (to our faces anyway!) 5 is chaos though!!! I know for sure now, though that we are done! I feel too tired now to do baby/toddler again and know that i could never enjoy pregnancy again (loved it but was high risk) along with the fact that we are already stretched providing things for 5 and finding time for things. Hope you get your no 4 :)

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 28/12/2010 21:13

i feel like 4 would be 'my number' IYKWIM but i have no partner so will have to make the most of my two. unless someone up there wants to arrange another immaculate conception (twins this time please) Wink

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 28/12/2010 21:15

Ooh I'm one of four! It's really nice- at Xmas it was very rowdy and a bit wild but still awesome. My mum and dad are both really calm people so maybe that has something to do with it?

sheepgomeep · 28/12/2010 21:16

I've got 4, had loads of omg you must be bonkers/mad but do you know what I love having four. I'm still sane (ish)

reinitindear · 28/12/2010 21:17

YANBU If you can love and support your children it is nobody elses business.Go for it and good luck

violethill · 28/12/2010 21:20

YANBU if you and your partner want to.

A lot of people wouldn't, which is probably why they roll their eyes and think heaven forbid!

ratspeakeratsolstice · 28/12/2010 21:25

YANBU

Nothing to do with anyone else

if you both want 4 go for it

we did Grin

PacificDogwood · 28/12/2010 21:26

YANBU.

I have 4 DSs, but have now reached capacity Grin.

Go for it, and good luck.

Desiderata · 28/12/2010 21:27

I think you're being unreasonable in the objective argument that the world is quite highly populated enough.

Of course, the subjective argument is for you, and you alone ..

scoobytoo · 28/12/2010 21:27

Is there something missing in your life? Just asking.

BarbieLovesKen · 28/12/2010 21:28

Im suprised by this to be honest (that people roll their eyes etc), as I dont think that 4 is an unusual/ obscene/ particulary large number... at all actually.

Go for it! and the best of luck Grin.

lollyheart · 28/12/2010 21:28

We are ttc no 4.

Yanbu Smile

imustbemadasaboxoffrogs · 28/12/2010 21:28

I have 4 and I am reasonably sane most of the time

anonacfr · 28/12/2010 21:29

Nothing wrong with 4. There seem to be loads in DD's class at school. Only one set of twins too. Grin

violethill · 28/12/2010 21:36

Don't overthink it all.

Everyone I know is very happy with the children they chose to have, whether one child or six! - numbers don't matter - just do whatever makes you happy (and is affordable)

MerryMarigold · 28/12/2010 21:38

I do think 4 is a lot. I have 3 (twins second time) and would be DEVASTATED if I got pregnant. I don't see why you want it...I struggle to find individual time for my 3, and I think some individual time and attention is important. You must be super mum!

humanoctopus · 28/12/2010 21:38

No you being unreasonable.

Unless you already have 5, or more! Wink

BarbieLovesKen · 28/12/2010 21:39

scooby - why would there be something missing? (I ask out of genuine interest as DH and I had a long chat about how many and why that many we would like to have today)

humanoctopus · 28/12/2010 21:39

Whooops - I meant:
No you are not being unreasonable.
