DH and I have 3 DC and have always wanted a big family. Despite being in the position to afford four DC whenever I mention having another one people (even family) seem to roll their eyes and think we are mad/stupid

I am 1 of 5 and I love it. I would love a huge fam but will settle on 4 if I have to. :) hmmm notice my name...

There will always be someone willing to share in opinion - the lady in the bank, the bloke walking down the street "Blimey, you'll have your hands full" etc etc. Usually a stranger willing to impart their wisdom Hmm.

The urge to be pregnant and the sense of 'not being done yet' is strong, and at times overwhelming.

But if you want 4, it is great. Mine (9, 8, 6 and 3) have taken themselves off and all I can hear are shrieks of laughter. It is bloody hard work, you have to be organised, and whatever anyone says - it IS different to having 3! I listened when people said 'once you have 3, another makes no difference'. What a load of old tosh! There are 4 children who need to be in 3 different places at any one time.

Good grief how I can relate to this (old-ish) thread!

I have 3 kiddies, age 6 (tomorrow), 4, 8m.
I want to start ttc#4 next year, twins would be an added bonus to take us to 5 children! I'd love a big(ger) family, the challenge of trying to please everyone, the fight at breakfast time...

Seriously, I love it! It keeps you on your toes. Finacially we can do it, if we don't move house for another few years. We live in a large 3bed terrace. It's big enough to hold double the amount in it and the garden is huge, so space not an issue. My dh is the issue and I won't go against him as I swore to him that dc3 was the last! I just didn't account for the broodiness creeping back in :(. I never expected it to, I though 3 children would give us a 'big enough' family, yet I've still got this longing.

Sadly, I don't think I'll ever be pregnant again (unless there is somehow an accident, highly unlikely!!). Very sad and very very difficult to accept!
:(
