I am quite new and keep seeing references to the mumsnet "heavies" on other threads. Am intrigued. Who are these people please?
"Heavy" because of strong opinions? Especially articulate posters? Nasty?
Or dos it refer to people officially involved with the actual running of musnet?
Please enlighten. I'd love to know who they are and why so called.

i don't know what a heavy is either...

phipps · 30/10/2010 16:01

YANBU as you can't know about something that doesn't exist. There isn't any MN heavies or royalty. Everyone is entitled to post as long as they are not mean and some are more known because they post a lot, that is all.

Where have you been hanging out? Chat?

TrillianSlasher · 30/10/2010 16:23

You'll know when you happen to disagree with one and get leaped on by their minions...

Oblomov · 30/10/2010 16:25

Trillians post confirms that such exist.

SpookyNoise · 30/10/2010 16:27

I haven't heard that term being used but I haven't been around for a while. Is it the same of royalty then?

there is definatly a mn mafia!
they are the kind that when you post something to their disliking, the shout about it on social networking groups such as twitter and FB so they can get all their friends together to give you a going over!

TiggyD · 30/10/2010 16:35

They're just big-boned.

TheBolter · 30/10/2010 16:36

I don't think it's anything lake as bad as it was two or three years ago though. Before there was a very distinct quiche whose collective head disappeared so far up its own collective arse it decided it didn't need MN anymore and thus formed its own forum.

Not wishing to reopen an old debate of course, but put in context, I think the current MN 'heavies' are more featherweight in their dominance these days.

TheBolter · 30/10/2010 16:36

lake?! like

Oblomov · 30/10/2010 16:37

So you are agreeing thta it exists then ? I never accepted thta a royalty used to exist either.
witchslayer, you make it sound so nasty.
Trillian, herbie, and witchslayer, you have experienced this ? seen it yourself ?

Oblomov · 30/10/2010 16:39

Are we expectinga new 'Moldies' then ?
Great. I'll get me popcorn.
Missed the last one, coz I was too busy giving birth to ds2.
Hope this one turns out to be as exciting.
Wink

GibbonWithAnAppleBobbingBibOn · 30/10/2010 16:39

MN used to be like that years ago. Not now though I don't think.

AnyFuleKno · 30/10/2010 16:40

there are millions of mumsnetters on twitter, not just a small clique, and people do link to interesting threads or mention something that's happened on here. However unlike moldies it's not exclusive and anyone can read/follow those conversations.

GibbonWithAnAppleBobbingBibOn · 30/10/2010 16:41

I missed all the moldies saga. Was on a MN break.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 30/10/2010 16:42

MN heavies? Is this a weight loss thread I don't know about?

I've been here 6 years. I've no idea who these people are.

TheBolter · 30/10/2010 16:42

Gibbon - I arrived back from a year long break just in time to see it all kick off!

Oblomov · 30/10/2010 16:43

Gibbon, its a pisser when you miss the best bits, isn't it ? Happens to me everytime.
I am here for hours. Not a sausage happens. I go on holiday, or don't log on for a week, for no apparent reason, and I tell you, its like fireworks at dawn.
Gets 'rite' on me nerves !!

TheBolter · 30/10/2010 16:44

I would be hard pressed to name any 'heavies' nowadays. There are the more ubiquitous and consequently popular characters, but I've not seen much going on in terms of mass-domination by a collective.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 30/10/2010 16:45

Me too Gibbon, we call the Moldies debacle 'Christmas' in this house.

Like bouncers??

witchslayerofMN · 30/10/2010 16:47

oh yes I have experiance, I dared to stray from the all lets agree that ...... etc, ok I was a bit contraversial, but I added colour to a very grey (then very blue) thread.
But the thread got linked on FB and peole who didn't normally post in that subjest all rallied round to give me a good kicking!
All I can say is just agree with the first couple of posts after the op and you'll not go far wrong.
