I am quite new and keep seeing references to the mumsnet "heavies" on other threads. Am intrigued. Who are these people please?
"Heavy" because of strong opinions? Especially articulate posters? Nasty?
Or dos it refer to people officially involved with the actual running of musnet?
Please enlighten. I'd love to know who they are and why so called.

There was a royalty of sorts, until they decided they are too good for common MNers and buzzed off to a website of their own. Then their "minions" wailed for a bit when they realized they weren't invited.

It was fun while it lasted [hgrin]

A few are back, most are not. These days, "minion" attacks are very few and far in between, thankfully.

I think I'm fairly well known. Dunno. Some people are aware I exist. Some threads I start run to hundreds of posts, some get no reply whatsoever. Tis the nature of the beast. I genuinely think you just get stuck in and don't start with an attitude of thinking there's a hierarchy. Just have the courage of your convictions. Or er, your resolution must never falter. No argument must lead you astray.

Point is, has any one of us ever ever been on a forum where there weren't a couple of big names? It ties into our need for simplicity. You can't rmemeber 10 thousand names but you can remember the people whose name you see all the time or who are funny, interesting or give a lot of themselves (or conversely are huge pains in the arse or a bit odd) I've seen some outrageous favouritism, bullying etc on forums where the popular people have privs as moderators etc. I'm thinking of one particular poster on Hitched wedding and baby forums who spends a lot of time on there and is a horrendous bully. I've not seen anything of that scale on here.

I've never, ever used another forum. One's enough.

Oh no I lie. I joined a computer game forum once to ask for ideas for a Christmas present for dh. Oh good god. I'd repressed that.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 30/10/2010 17:12

I think it's okay not to get Fellatio's Hallowe'en name at first. It's rude and we are pure.

Aherm.

And I'm denser than the lot of you. I didn't get Awitch at first. I was trying to pronounce it as one meaningless noise. See. Dense.

Yeah they are the people on here with too much time on their hands and as a previous poster said, disagree with one and you have the rest of them jumping in. They all think they are really witty and clever and actually..they are just rather sad.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 30/10/2010 17:20

Riven, embrace your purity. She's being a dirty sod.
