I love watching most stand up, but God that man makes my teeth chang. I can't even watch him for more than a minute. He just laughs the whole time and walks around a lot.

Am I missing something?

Where are the laughs? At the end?

I mean...sell out tours???

Que?

I really like him. Went to see hi last year and it was really funny. I like that kind of "chatting about real stuff" type humour and comedy.

Each to their own.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 14/09/2010 19:31

Well I quite like him - each to their own.

Frankie Boyle for instance; some folk like him - I think he's a bit of a twat.

Mowgli1970 · 14/09/2010 19:34

I like him. He's funny in the way Victoria Wood is funny - observational comedy that most people can relate to without the need for excessive bad language or blue material. I can't stand Frankie Boyle - trying a little too hard to be "edgy" and controversial IMHO!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 14/09/2010 19:34

I really couldn't stand Michael McIntyre at first but he has really grown on me, i love him now!

I love most stand ups obv Lee Evans is the King of stand up but there are a LOT of really great entertainers out there, Rohd Gilbert, Jimmy Carr, Russell Howard, Simon Amstell to name a few.

cherylvole · 14/09/2010 19:35

i saw him live about 3 years ago
my face HURT from laughing.

taintedpaint · 14/09/2010 19:35

I can't stand him. He's not even remotely funny to me. I only have to see his face and I get annoyed!

mangoandlime · 14/09/2010 19:45

Doesn't do it for me either. I turned his DVD off half way through. I have a very well developed funny bone but for different stuff, I guess. Overrated.

BonniePrinceBilly · 14/09/2010 19:56

He's hilarious. The bit about calling his kid Adolph and speaking French...I nearly broke a rib laughing.

LauraNorder · 14/09/2010 19:58

Took me a while but I love him now - he is an acquired taste, a bit like olives Grin

memoo · 14/09/2010 19:59

oh but I he gave me a name for my man draw!!

EmEyeHi · 14/09/2010 20:00

Hilarious - just saw a clip on TV about taps. I roared with laughing. Isn't it just so true though. That's why he's so appealing - he puts into words what everybody thinks with hilarious results (IMO!!!) Grin

tokyonambu · 14/09/2010 20:02

"He's funny in the way Victoria Wood is funny"

Neither of them are particularly funny these days. The difference is that Victoria Wood at least used to know funny when she saw it, and is a decent writer, so could get good people to make entertaining programmes back in the day (although the thing she did at Christmas was horrific). McIntyre so far as I can tell was never particularly funny.

spacedog · 14/09/2010 20:02

I like him too but he got a bit overexposed. Anyone on the telly too much becomes annoying don't they? Suspect he's hated for his success by other comedians, I bet most of that lot are bitter, miserable fuckers in real life.

MilMae · 14/09/2010 20:02

find him not funny too. jumping and running around... stupid!

taintedpaint · 14/09/2010 20:04

Maybe the Victoria Wood thing is why I don't find him funny! I think she's okay as a writer, but can't stand her as a comedian and she's an absolutely dismal actress IMO.

perfumedlife · 14/09/2010 20:05

I love him. I didn't know what pain or boredom was until i endured two hours of self indulgent twaddle from Eddie Izzard.

tokyonambu · 14/09/2010 20:08

Eddie Izzard: as funny a stubbed toe in both languages.

FellatioNelson · 14/09/2010 20:08

I'll admit to never having seen a whole set or routine, only little clips, but so far I find his delivery far too forced, and generally I'm a bit bewildered by his meteoric rise to fame.

Hulababy · 14/09/2010 20:08

Saw Frankie Boyle live - he was definitely NOt funny (IMO.)

pointydog · 14/09/2010 20:20

I think it's impossible to describe why you find someone funny to another person who doesn't find that person funny at all.

I quite like MM. I have a larf.

lemonysweet · 14/09/2010 20:28

I HATE HIM.
and i love comedy.

he basically ripped off all of lee evans early material and style. saying things in a higher pitched voice does not a joke make Mcintyre!
he is crap. too easy. observational comedy is done best by lee evans. i love russell howard at the moment.
Mock The Week is a dream.

and i luuurve Eddie Izzard.

pointydog · 14/09/2010 20:31

Lee Evans. Now, I can't stand him.

MollieO · 14/09/2010 20:33

Don't find him funny in the slightest.

CupcakesHay · 14/09/2010 20:35

No.... i LOVE HIM!!!!

i spose that's what makes the world go round all liking different things!

but really? you don't find him funny???

boobmanagement · 14/09/2010 20:37

I really like him, used to think Frankie Boyle was funny but he's very OTT. Love the way MM walks and the ways his hair bounces about. Watching him on mute would make me laugh.
