To think a 2yo with size 9 feet is madness?

I have seen on facebook today that one of my friends DS has size nine feet! My DS is 2 months older than hers and his are a 4.5, and seem in proportion. Is size 9 very normal for a 2 yo or does he have abnormally large feet? (I'm not being judgey but it just sounded too big to be true!)

my ds had size 9's at 2, but then hes tall for his age too, he is 4 now and in size 12's!!

MrsBadger · 23/08/2010 16:20

well dd is just 3 and an 8
so not mad

Conversely, tbh 4.5 seems very small to me - dd's first shoes (at 14m) were a 4.5

but that is why they make them in sizes not ages Smile

PYT · 23/08/2010 16:20

My DS had size 9s at this age. He was very tall for his age. He is 5 yrs old now and am adult size 3. He is also the tallest child in his class and, if the HV is to be believed, will be 'at least 6'4'.

DD is 21 months and a size 4/5, so going that way too!

seaturtle · 23/08/2010 16:20

I have a 2yr3mnth old DS with growing size 8 feet!

asouthwoldmummy · 23/08/2010 16:20

I should have mentioned he has literally only just turned 2, sorry!

well you are being a bit judgy arent you, your child is in proportion but hers isnt Hmm
I have a 2 and half yr old DD, and she is in a size 8, she looks perfectly in proportion to me Grin
Mind my 8yr old DD1 is in size 4, and I am only a 5/6!!

mankyscotslass · 23/08/2010 16:23

Ds was in a 9 at that age, he is tallish for his age, but certainly not the tallest in nursery!

He is now 4 and is an 11. DD who is nearly 7 is only an 11.5!

MeganMog · 23/08/2010 16:23

My DS is 3, nearly 4 and is size 10

asouthwoldmummy · 23/08/2010 16:24

Fair enough, wasn't trying to offend. Just sounded large, obviously mine has abnormally small feet?!

OP posts:
fustyarse · 23/08/2010 16:25

my 20 month old ds is in size 8

my 6 year old ds wears big size 1

my 3 year old dd wears a 9

they are all tall kids and perfectly in proportion

4.5 for an over 2 year old seems v small to me! all of mine had 'first shoe' fittings of 5, each at around 16m I think

don't be so judgey - they all grow differently! Smile

Ilythia · 23/08/2010 16:26

DD1 was a size 6 at 13 months. They had no first shoes for her in her size so she went barefoot until she could walk properly.
She was size 9 on her second birthday as I bought her shoes for then, she has slowed a bit now and is a size 12 at 4 years. She is the height of a 6-7 year old though.

Fluffypoms · 23/08/2010 16:26

my dd is 2 and has size 9 feet, but again she is tall for her age where as my nephew 2 also is size 5. just depends i guess

Ilythia · 23/08/2010 16:26

Love the 'not being judgey but'
What do you think she is doing to his feet to make them grow so big?Grin

BabyDubsEverywhere · 23/08/2010 16:27

My DD is not quite 2 and going into a six. My ds is a size 8 and nearly, sounds like you have tiny footed dc's Grin

SagacityNell · 23/08/2010 16:28

it may be madness but there is nothing you can do about foot size!

DS1's first pair of shoes were an 8 at 18 months. He is now a 13/1 at 7.

DS3 is 2.6 and is a 6/7

BabyDubsEverywhere · 23/08/2010 16:29

Actually my DS first shoes at 15months were a 4.5!

Hes quite average everything tbh in RL

suwoo · 23/08/2010 16:31

My friends DS is 3.8 and is a size 1!!!!!!!

Yes reader, that is size 1.

I was Shock.

My DD is 8.5 and is a 12.

bit of a ridiculous thread.........2 year olds come in all shapes and sizes just like the rest of us. DD1 is in a size 7 at 2.5 so could well be in a 9 before she hits 3 (if her feet keep growing at the rate they have been). She is on 91st centile for height so it's to be expected that her feet will be bigger than average.

To describe size 9 feet as "madness" is very odd.

asouthwoldmummy · 23/08/2010 16:36

I really wasn't judging, I couldn't possibly think worse of somebody for having large feet, that would just be stupid! Perhaps i should have phrased it differently. My DS is an only DC so I don't know any different.
Would anyone judge me for my DS having small feet, or just for my poor choice of phrasing?

You know what they say OP about men with small feet...

asouthwoldmummy · 23/08/2010 16:42

Very funny

I have a small of feet child too, my DD is a 4.5E at 2.2, she couldn't have proper shoes when she was first walking as they didn't stock them below a size 3. don't think 9 is that big tbh, we just have dinky footed children - my DD topples over a lot, probably because of her small base!

asouthwoldmummy · 23/08/2010 16:45

Thank you biscuits, I didn't realise his were small!
