To think a 2yo with size 9 feet is madness?

I have seen on facebook today that one of my friends DS has size nine feet! My DS is 2 months older than hers and his are a 4.5, and seem in proportion. Is size 9 very normal for a 2 yo or does he have abnormally large feet? (I'm not being judgey but it just sounded too big to be true!)

Yes, we can all update! My size 6 at 19m child is now a 10.5 at three and a half Grin

Moominsarescary · 24/07/2012 16:27

My 16 mo is in a size 7h

Whitamakafullo · 24/07/2012 16:32

My DS's first pair of shoes at 9 months were a size 5 Shock He is now 7 and wears an adult size 2. He is very tall though, at 135cm and the tallest in his class by half a head. Should add he is not 8 until next May!

My DD on the other hand, is 11 months younger than DS and has only recently went into a size 11. I wouldn't say she is small, but she is very petite, small features etc

Whitamakafullo · 24/07/2012 16:33

I'm a size 8 by the way, so DS takes his stature off me Wink

Ithinkitsjustme · 24/07/2012 16:44

Well my 12 year old DD2 has size 11 feet! but size 8 for a 2 year old sounds towards the top end of "Normal" to me, while 4.5 sounds towards the bottom of "normal".

MrsReiver · 24/07/2012 16:47

What do you think she is doing to his feet to make them grow so big?

Whatever it is, can she let me know please? My 8yo is 4ft6 and has skinny little size 1 feet. I have NO idea how he stays upright.

avivabeaver · 24/07/2012 16:49

dd3 was a 4.5 at 8 months (too big for crawler shoes)

she is now 4.8 and a size 12. she is, however above the 100 centile for height.

mistlethrush · 24/07/2012 16:51

My DS is also 7 with adult size 2 feet.

When he was 3 his nursery teacher remarked upon the size of his feet... 'you don't notice how big they are until he treads on someone'.

lastnerve · 24/07/2012 16:51

Nope, not at all my son is nearly 3 and wears a 10G

And yes it is true, his nursery have commented on how his feet are so big they have no spares in his size.

tbf I am between 5'8 & 5'9 and his dad is 6'5 probably some link there.

MsIngaFewmarbles · 24/07/2012 16:51

DS is 2.10 and we have just bought him size 9 shoes. He is very tall. His cousin is exactly a year older and is in size 1s, again a tall boy for his age. Nothing odd at all, people including little ones come in all shapes and sizes.

SardineQueen · 24/07/2012 17:06

Oh a thread for us!

DD was 12.5 at 4.
Can't remember what she was at 2 but her feet have always been huge, also hands. Like a puppy Smile

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 24/07/2012 17:08

DD2 is 22 months, and just going into a size 8....
I know you have admitted YABU, but I'll just add to it :o
YABU!

heymammy · 24/07/2012 17:14

Dd1's first pair of school shoes were a 9, she was 5.2 when she started school!

FuckerSnailInYourHedgerow · 24/07/2012 17:15

Zombie thread. When poster say that MN was better a few years ago remember that there were also threads which involved stealth boasting about toddlers feet. I would tell you all what size DS's feet were at two but your heads would explode Grin

bulby · 24/07/2012 17:15

I've got size9 flippers at the end of my legs yet dd who's 4.1 is just into an 8(child). There is some genetic trickery afoot.

bulby · 24/07/2012 17:16

And I've completely accidentally made an awful pun.....sorry.

Galena · 24/07/2012 17:18

DD's feet are tiny too. She's 3.3 and just gone into size 6 (although they are so big on her she trips over and we are still putting her in her size 5s!)

Her first proper shoes were boots in a size 2.

JennerOSity · 24/07/2012 17:22

My DS is just 2 and has 5.5 - 6 feet.

If this boy was a puppy you would be expecting a big dog in the end to match those paws. Grin

Shullbit · 24/07/2012 17:22

Not read all, but my DS2 two weeks after his first birthday was a 4.5 but I have forgotten what size DS1 was at that age. I am certain his first Clarks shoes around his first birthday was a 4 or 4.5 too.

OhEmGee24 · 24/07/2012 17:32

Oh ok so dd at 2.2 and a size 6 is relatively diddy by the sounds of it!

CeliaFate · 24/07/2012 17:36

Your thread title is judgy and you do sound pfb I'm afraid - my baby is perfect, but hers is a freak is the subtext.
My two dc had size 9 feet at about that age, dd was in size 12 shoes in Reception class, she's now an adult size 8 at age 11.
And the "jokes" wear thin...

DDis 18 months and not yet a 2. It's very frustrating that proper toddling shoes are really big on her. My DS's are both really tall for age and their feet don't seam to grow atthe same rate as height growth spurts so there are spells that they appear to be out of proportion. I think they'll be gangly teenagers and DD is destined to be small footed and short like her great grandmother.

SoldeInvierno · 24/07/2012 18:52

I've heard that in the old time the Chinese found a way to stop this happening to their women. Maybe you can suggest foot binding to your friend. Confused

SecretNutellaFix · 24/07/2012 19:16

My nephew is 22months old and in an 8. He is also filling 2-3 years clothes, which are pretty generously sized.
