To think a 2yo with size 9 feet is madness?

I have seen on facebook today that one of my friends DS has size nine feet! My DS is 2 months older than hers and his are a 4.5, and seem in proportion. Is size 9 very normal for a 2 yo or does he have abnormally large feet? (I'm not being judgey but it just sounded too big to be true!)

I'm going for the DC with teeniest feet award. My DD is 9 1/2yrs old and has small size 10 feet. I have yet to find smaller, I think I should definitely get an award of some kind, for producing particularly dainty children? no?

no point in being judgey, although it does sound big.

my DS is 4 and starting reception, his feet are at 8. At two they would have been 4.5-5 - but thats small I think.

dd's shoes when starting reception at almost 5 were a 9.

roundthebend4 · 24/08/2010 08:11

nah dont worry there all differnt , ds1 who is 16 is now a size 11 and ds2 who is 13 a size 9 and they were in a 3 and a 4 from about 18 months but they are both almost 6 foot.

Was a funny moment when i had suprise benefits visit they was checking up as had reported that i had a man livinbg

seems someone had seen ds boots outdoors regulary

Dd is 7 and is only a size 11 so fairly small her first shoes were a 2 and we had to wait till she was almost 2 for that

ds3 is 5 and he is really only a size 8 but weras 10 to allow for afos

but there both fairly small height wise

shows the wide range of sizes kids come in

MistyMooBags · 24/08/2010 15:26

Ummmm... My very tall (I'm 6 foot and my partner even taller) DD is 17 months old and is a size 6...

Ba8y1 · 24/08/2010 15:38

I think this demonstrates I have a lot to learn about having kids..! Currently 16 wks pg and was shocked by the title of this thread..2yo with size 9 feet - wow I thought, not realising, or should I say not remembering that there are different sizes for kids - am still laughing at the thought of a 2 yo with adult size 9 feet!! oops, does baby brain really start this early....
anyways sorry to diverge - thanks for teaching me something - have a feeling its going to be a little more than learning one new thing a day over the coming months!!! Grin

Ds2 is nearly six and in a 12. DD is 2.3 and a 7H and i'm dreading ds3 being a big footed fecker like his daddy who is a size 17 - it's murder trying to buy shoes at all.

LostArt · 24/08/2010 15:53

Both my children (age 6 and 4) are size 12. I don't know if that's madness. I do feel like a bad mother, though - my DD old school shoes are a 10 and DS old shoes are a 9. Do you think it's possible to grow 3 sizs in 6 weeks?

YunoYurbubson · 24/08/2010 17:39

My children's feet are longer than they are tall. I have to stuff their whole body into their shoes and they walk (hop, really) around with their naked toes wiggling in the air. Like sad little capital Ls :(

LostArt · 24/08/2010 18:06

Your poor children Yuno.

BetsyBoop · 24/08/2010 18:16

DS is 2 (3 in Nov) & size 9 in his new shoes so YABVU Grin

DD is in size 13's at 4 (5 in Dec)

...but then they are both in the 95th percentile for height for their age, so they'd look silly with little feet...Wink

roundthebend4 · 24/08/2010 20:24

demented i feel your pain im least hoping ds1 is done with feet growinga nd growing full stop but ds2 is only 13 and now seems to be having a spurt so expecting him to be even bigge rthan ds1 and im already struggloing with shoes

LC200 · 24/08/2010 20:33

Am sure ds was in a 9 before he was 3. He is now 4 and in an 11. Some kids just have big feet!

I remember when I was 7 my feet were an adult size 3.5. I could not find the pale pink canvas type crappy Mary Jane things that were THE THING to have anywhere in my size, cos they didn't make them. Boo hoo! Glad things are a bit easier now for kids with mega feet! Mine are only a 6.5 now though, I stopped growing everywhere (apart from out!) at around 12.

WomanAtTheWell · 24/08/2010 20:56

DD1 is 5 and has size 13 feet which is fine as she's tall (age 7-8 clothes). Not so fine is that my feet are only size 3 and it's a bit disconcerting to see her in my boots/heels (only round the house obviously)but quite able to walk in them

tegan · 25/08/2010 06:31

my other kids have big feet too

dd2 is 6 and has size 2 feet and dd1 is 12 and has size 6 feet but it's not a worry kids are how they are and itnot somethign to stress over

jacquiaki · 25/08/2010 08:48

My cousin''s little girl is 10 and is an adult size 8!! She cant find any school shoes to fit her bless. She is very tall and has tall parents.

DetectivePotato · 25/08/2010 09:37

It does sound big but my DS was in size 4.5 for his first shoes at 11 months, so I would think that your DS has slightly small feet, not that it matters at all. My DS is 2.7 and wearing 7.5 but so is his friend who will be turning 3 soon. His other friend who is 2.5 months younger is wearing size 8.

Horton · 25/08/2010 09:44

I think that sounds quite big but DD has titchy feet (she is in size 7 at nearly four years old).

domeafavour · 25/08/2010 10:20

my son is still 2 and is a size 9.
And????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gaslit · 25/08/2010 12:31

Don't worry about it - I have an only just 8 year old boy in ADULT SIZE FOUR shoes. I'm a five and a half. Next year we'll be sharing shoes. Now that's madness!!!

asouthwoldmummy · 25/08/2010 19:46

Domeafavour - AND if you'd bothered to read the whole thread you'd have seen I admitted IABU. I thought it was big but it turns out my DS has tiny feet! Chill, didn't mean to offend!

OP posts:
domeafavour · 25/08/2010 21:19

You didn't offend at all, I was trying to be funny!! Have to remember to Grin
read your other thread too, no worries

OhEmGee24 · 24/07/2012 16:09

I know this is an old thread, but size 9 at 2?! I just had DD measured. She's 2years and 2 months and a size 6f and I thought that was big considering she's tall!

Feminine · 24/07/2012 16:14

This can't run again surely? Wink

Sirzy · 24/07/2012 16:14

Ohem - size 6 at 2 sounds about average to me. DN is 3.5 and already a size 11, DS is 2.8 and just a size 6 but my other 18 month old nephew is already a 5.5

MarysBeard · 24/07/2012 16:26

DD2 went into a size 9 when she was 2. She is 3 now, size 10F shoe, pretty much off the scale for height - fits age 5 trousers length wise. I always had bigger feet than my friends and was always the tallest in the class but slowed down a lot when I got to 11, and I ended up size 6.5 and just over 5'7".

DH is just short of 6ft, but size 11 feet so probably fairly big feet for his height. Wink

We all have a "firm grip of the earth" as my mum would say.
