To think a 2yo with size 9 feet is madness?

I have seen on facebook today that one of my friends DS has size nine feet! My DS is 2 months older than hers and his are a 4.5, and seem in proportion. Is size 9 very normal for a 2 yo or does he have abnormally large feet? (I'm not being judgey but it just sounded too big to be true!)

I am 50 and have size 9 feet Smile

Ds2 is an 8.5, and he is 4.5 years old!

however, Ds1 at this age was a 10.5.

I am stunned that I never realised before that competitive parenting could relate to a child's shoe size

ROFL at you all - just ROFL

4 yr old DS is unbelievably tall, with size 13 feet. I imagine he'll be a 1 by next month - I swear I can actually see him growing.

And the lesson here is: don't breed with 6ft 2 men. Hmm Grin

suiledonne · 23/08/2010 18:16

My 4.4 year old takes an 8 and my 21 month old is a 4 - so size 9 for a two year old seems big to me. I have 2 adult sisters who take a 3 though so small feet are common in our family.

SummerRain · 23/08/2010 18:18

ds1 was in size 4.5 when he got his first shoes at a year old.

He was size 9 around his third birthday.

ds2 (who is small for his age) is in size 5 now, he's 18 months.

So to answer your question, 4.5 seems more unusual to me than 9 for a 2 year old Smile

I was (am) in the freakishly small of foot variety. My Mum to this day delights in telling people that I started school in size 4 (childrens). How I ever managed to stand up on them I have no idea.

It came as a bit of a surprise that my kids do not seem to have the same pixie feet. DD is 3y6m and already a size 8. DS is only 10 months but I suspect he is a size 2/3 already and VERY broad

All shapes and sizes it seems

Dd4 has freakishly large feet, she is 22 months but tiny and wears 9-12 month clothes but has size 5 feet. When she wears shoes and dresses she looks like Krusty the clown Shock dd3 is nearly 3 and has size 6.5 feet.

TheUnmentioned · 23/08/2010 18:52

Yes its madness isnt it, the youth of today with their freakishly large feet

TheUnmentioned · 23/08/2010 18:53

fridgemonkey Dh is only 5ft11 and I have a child like that too so dont blame it all on your partner!

mumbar · 23/08/2010 18:56

really weaning before 6 months and ff gives dc's large feet - fact???

If that is serious then ds really broke the mould on this one. He was bf and ff until 7 weeks then lost milk due to my illness and started puree at 3.5 months as constantly starving. Hasn't stopped him having smaller than average feet tho!!! Mindyou he isn't that tall 50%tile and is mostly body Grin

TheUnmentioned · 23/08/2010 18:59

But but but ds was weaned at 26 weeks and breast fed and is in size 12 shoes at age 3.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 23/08/2010 18:59

djenai i did wonder whether that was serios or not Wink

Gutted tho like to think he's a bit unique!!!

Don't understand how people see this thread as competitive just a bit of fun comparing kids foot size. Better than some of the nasty thread sthat can be on here Sad

spiderlight · 23/08/2010 19:14

My DS was in an 8 at just gone 2, although they then fitted him for over a year.

SeaTrek · 23/08/2010 19:14

My son was a size nine when he started school, at 4 yrs 1 mth - shot up to a size 10.5 very quickly after that but stayed at a size 11 for about a year. Now a size 12 at age 6, and has been for about 9 mths.

One of his friends, just six months older, was a size 1 in reception though (much taller - my son is average).

TheProvincialLady · 23/08/2010 19:16

It is reasonable to judge. The cause is obvious...mothers of big footed DC have clearly allowed their offspring to wear TRAINERS, thereby causing their innocent feet to spread.

Snobear4000 · 23/08/2010 19:59

When I was a fetus, I had size 9 adult shoes, but then again, I do have a fucking enormous cock.

xkaylax · 23/08/2010 20:05

All children are different
I get fed up with people saying ds has big feet hes 3.6 and a size 9, some places 9.5
But i could just say there children had small feet.Grin

CrunchyFrog · 23/08/2010 20:15

DS2 is a 6 at 19m. Crazy big-footed weird hobbit child, I wanted to buy the lovely baby Hush Puppies but now he has to have boy shoes. Sad

madamearcati · 23/08/2010 20:21

What a bizarre OP !!How can you be judgey about a tot's shoe size? Unless you think his parents are bashing them out every night with a meat tenderising hammer

Indaba · 23/08/2010 20:25

PAH, THATS NOTHING!............my darling darling daughter has one foot size 9 and one foot size 2, and she is only 4 years of age!

no not really, I just wanted to join in the competition Grin
