I'm crying for the 4th time because John Lewis has messed me around so much and left me, my son and my parents so disappointed..they live abroad, when came ordered a present from JLwith nominated day delivery..it didnt happen and the whole sat evening we were waiting for the van to come, cancelled our meal...the present turned up at 9 instead of before 6pm as stated - that was the 1st time i cried coz of distress, then when my dad put it together(its a trike ) we discovered that the brakes are faulty...we all were soooooooo upset...as my parents couldnt give it like that...and JL said they can deliver only on tuesday, as my parents are leaving in the afternoon, they promised to deliver before 10.30...They have NOT..on city link website it says there was an attemp - well its such a BLOW..WE ALL HAVENT LEFT THE HOUSE AND THERE WAS NO ATTEMPT......I am a grown up woman, but sobbing like a girl...the customer service said we probably missed the driver....dONT KNOW WHAT TO DO, FEEL SO HELPLESS...

erm. do you think you are over reacting a bit?

it's a trike - not sure how it being faulty has ruined your son's welcome to the Christian faith?

yes it's irritating - but it's not a disaster - they will replace it for you. stop sobbing.

Deliaskis · 27/07/2010 11:06

errrmm...what gladders said.

D

BunnyLebowski · 27/07/2010 11:07

Here you go

oska · 27/07/2010 11:07

Good grief - get a grip. That's life. And you need to set an example to your kids not to over-react over small stuff...

LIZS · 27/07/2010 11:08

You're overreactign soemwhat ! It sounds as if you perhaps left it quite close to the date for delivery. Presumably your ds is still quite small so will only pick up on your upset not really in his own right unless you've hyped his expectations. It isn't JL's fault is was faulty, nor that the delivery driver somehow missed you. Can they intercept it or you collect from a store?

agree. calm down.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 27/07/2010 11:09

Hey. They can be rubbish sometimes with deliveries, and I can tell you need to vent!

but try not to let it get to you too much. Why did it spoil your son's christening? Surely there were other things about the special day that you could enjoy and remember? How old is DS, anyway? He might not have the same expectations as you have of a shiny new present.

As for the city link screw-up - have you double-checked with JL that they have your correct address, including postcode? Sometimes they transcribe the postcode wrongly and go to the wrong address, and claim they attempted delivery. I know how frustrating it is.

YunoYurbubson · 27/07/2010 11:09

Is there something else going on that you haven't mentioned in your OP? Sobbing over being messed around over a faulty trike seems an overreaction. How did it spole the christening?

TheFallenMadonna · 27/07/2010 11:09

It's sad that your parents don't get to give their grandson the present. But really - you need to stop crying!

I understand it is frustrating but do not let it spoil your day so baddly, it is not the end of the world.

Sorry you are upset by this but could you clarify how it has spoiled your son's christening? When is/was the christening?

Ewe · 27/07/2010 11:10

I think you need to sit down, have a cup of tea and when calm read through your post again.

You're clearly overreacting to something that's not a very big issues, frustrating? Absolutely. Worth being this upset over? Absolutely not.

Spoiled the christening? YABU.

toccatanfudge · 27/07/2010 11:10

ermmm - what the others said - especially gladders....

They were then when he got the initial present yes? The fact that they won't be there when he gets the replacement really doesn't matter.

And really the trike has nothing to do with him becoming a part of the church family

ReshapeWhileDamp · 27/07/2010 11:10

LIZS - if it's not JL's fault the trike was faulty, whose is it?? They are the supplier and shouldn't be supplying faulty goods, regardless of who made them. She paid them the money, not direct to the manufacturer, after all.

olderandwider · 27/07/2010 11:11

I do think you are over-reacting a little. You wanted your family's important day to be perfect, and sadly, it hasn't been. John Lewis have certainly let you down, but, truly, your little boy won't care (as long as he gets the trike eventually!) and you will all recover in a day or so.

em, is it really that bad? honestly? what age is your son? does he know that this gift is for his christening? does he know it is from his grandparents? if he is old enough to understand that then he is old enough to explain, when it finally does arrive, that it is a surprise left by his grandparents.

YunoYurbubson · 27/07/2010 11:12

MMJ - pay attention, christ not on a bike (well, a trike) because the brakes were faulty, ergo no happy union with Christ, on or off bike (well, trike).

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 27/07/2010 11:12

Can't they get him a nice bible instead? Much more appropriate for a Christening gift.

I would probably have muttered a quick FFS and then carried on with my day. No one has died have they! I would tell you to get a grip but I see BunnyLebowski has already kindly given you one.

MilkNoSugarPlease · 27/07/2010 11:13

I'm a bit confused ad to how this ruined it tbh..a little annoying,yes....day destroying....no
