Congratulations. How exciting! The start of your family life ...

monkeyfacegrace · 21/06/2010 15:03

Ahh how exciting! What a lovely age too, she will be gorgeous and squidgy!
I dont understand how these things work-how long will it be until she lives with you?
Well done mummy x

bran · 21/06/2010 15:06

Fantastic. I hope it all goes well and you are all very happy together.

Don't worry if it takes a while for your new DD to get used to you. DD was 14 months when we first met her and she was very clingy to her foster mum for the first 4 days but she is very well attached now.

Besom · 21/06/2010 15:06

How exciting! Congratulations and good luck!

Congratulations to you all.

pumpupthevolume · 21/06/2010 15:13

Thank you all for your lovely messages - I am an emotional wreck at the moment...

We have a week of introductions (four days at foster carers' home, then three days at our home) then we bring her home next Tuesday! It feels totally unreal, and I swing between being ecstatic, to worrying about if she'll like us, if we'll like her (I know we will, I think this is probably normal to worry!).

And then I will be using MN to ask for advice instead of lurking and longing for the day when I can ask for advice about pooey nappies and fruitshoots!

Congratulations from another adopted daughter

My mum wrote a diary for me from which included the phone call that told them they had a baby girl which I read again recently . It also included when they went to pick me up on my first day as 'their's'.
She was so excited it was contagious.

Enjoy meeting your daughter!

Wonderful news. As a social worker in child protection it is so lovely to hear the "other side" - adoptive parents joy and excitement. Enjoy every minute x

How lovely! I wish you all such a happy life together, how perfect!

Just13moreyearstogo · 21/06/2010 19:04

How lovely for you. I remember how I felt the morning we were due to meet our DD for the first time. Don't worry if she clings to her foster carers at first - perfectly normal for an eight month old. I wish you all the luck and happiness in the world.
