What food do you purposely not buy?

Is there a food that you purposely don't buy because if it's in the house you'll scoff the lot?!

For me it's crunchy nut cornflakes. OMG I could eat an entire packet in a day, easy! It's like they call out to me "eat me"!!

So I very rarely buy them. What's yours?

McVitie dark chocolate digestives. Used also to be Jacobs cheddars, I'd happily eat several slathered in butter, but I think they changed the recipe to baked? No temptation now, similarly with Krackawheat.

Salted pistachios. Lethal

MrsClattenburg · 20/10/2026 07:36

I can't believe Jaffa Cakes are getting a mention! I mean they just wouldn't be a biscuit (cake?) I would ever think of buying.

For me, it's Pringles but it HAS to be prawn cocktail flavour.

And Crunchy Nut Cornflakes... I look longingly at them when I walk down the cereal aisle, give a little sigh and move on to get DH's porridge.

@OttersOnAPlane- pistachio and say what now??? Is that a recipe or you can buy it???? Asking for a friend…..

runnerducky · 20/10/2026 08:02

Crunchy nut cornflakes are like crack. I just ate a box in two days.

pulpJarvis · 20/10/2026 08:07

salted caramel galaxy … even though it’s not nice chocolate and is objectively shit, I swear it’s got crack in it. I’m all a square of dark chocolate otherwise. Bastards.

Fruit Shorties, irresistible!

For slightly different reason then mentioned but I had a frozen packet of peas thrown at my head in a supermarket when I was 12 and it shook me up so much I have avoided them ever since

M&S ridged salted crisps as I can eat them all day

Creme eggs, and for the same reason (DB threw me one across the sitting room and it hit me on the head. Didn't like them much anyway).

Ice cream they sell in Waitrose. It's so good.

Kettle crisps
Lesbian biscuits
cheesy footballs
i can eat all of these in one sitting

What in hell are lesbian biscuits? 🤣

SmallDFartyCarNRG · 20/10/2026 08:33

We boycott brands which is restrictive enough!

Same. I'm ok with (& like) the regular one, but the sweet & salty is just asking to be eaten by the spoonful, so I don't buy it.
I'm ok with chocolate as long as it isn't open. Ditto big bags of crisps. I've stopped buying small bags.

I want to get some now. I have never tried Pip and Nut.

Pallaska · 20/10/2026 08:50

Mini Cheddars

Tyrell’s truffle and sea salt crisps - so addictive

We don’t buy biscuits anymore. I did go through horrendous withdrawal but it’s because of my youngest son. He’s a magpie for a sugary treat in whatever form it comes in. He can flush a treat out of hiding in minutes and will eat the lot, I even mean sneaking out of bed in the night to eat. We’ve had years of it (suspected ADHD) and had Christmas, Easter and Halloween chocolates and treats ransacked by him and we’d find wrappers stashed all over the house. We’ve been highly imaginative with hiding places to the point we’ve forgotten where we’d hidden things. He’s 12 now and although better, he has zero regard for biscuit boundaries and is a pig. My MIL has been told a million times not to bring any biscuits or chocolate to our house and still does weekly which my husband has to put in the car as he meets her at the gate. She thinks it’s funny, far from it. I do buy my own biscuits and keep them at work but I miss a biscuit and a brew of an evening.

ChubbyCheeksCharlie · 20/10/2026 18:42

Basically anything that isn't ingredients for meals. So i don't buy biscuits or crisps or chocolates (except 85% which i don't go into a frenzy over) or anything "junk food" or Nutella. I once ate an entire jar of Nutella, couldn't control myself. I now do similar with tahini so have to only buy it as needed.

pinkishtongue · 20/10/2026 18:46

Biscuits. I adore biscuits with a cuppa and I wouldn’t leave them alone. If DH goes to a cafe he brings me home his free biscoff 😂

Barleycat · 20/10/2026 18:48

Biscoff spread. My son has to hide it from me

Stelladid · 20/10/2026 19:07

Edited as I only read the title before posting 😳

Mere1 · 20/10/2026 19:32

Lemon curd-by the spoonful!

Shopaholic100 · 20/10/2026 19:36

Walkers crisps, I’ve literally had to go cold turkey as I can’t resist them if they’re in the house. It all started when I was at school and they had an offer to collect tokens to get a free Filofax planner. I got the planner and can’t stop eating them ever since 😬. Any flavour will do but I always start with cheese and onion. They also make the best crisp sandwiches😋.

MagicThanks · 20/10/2026 19:37

Cadburys fingers. Down in one.

Spaniels4Eva · 20/10/2026 19:44

My absolute weakness is nuts. If I open a bag, I'll inhale the lot especially Belazu ones. And given the calorie content..... so I can't have them in the house apart from Christmas.

Itstime1 · 20/10/2026 19:54

Caramel digestives! I can’t have them in as I don’t share - I eat them all over the day.

my DH didn’t realise he liked them as he never gets to eat them 😂
Same for Vicounts (green mint ones) …

largeprintagathachristie · 20/10/2026 20:01

Tesco Finest dark chocolate ginger biscuits.

Though unfortunately there’s a packet of them beside me as I type this …
