What food do you purposely not buy?

Is there a food that you purposely don't buy because if it's in the house you'll scoff the lot?!

For me it's crunchy nut cornflakes. OMG I could eat an entire packet in a day, easy! It's like they call out to me "eat me"!!

So I very rarely buy them. What's yours?

Another for the Jaffa cakes. Is it even possible to eat a single Jaffa cake??

Carjuke · 19/10/2026 21:52

Fresh white bread from our local bakery!

DosPerros · 19/10/2026 21:52

Maltesers and Magnums mmmmmmmm

Funnily enough, I've got crunchy nut cornflakes in the house. I can leave it... but do eat 2 huge bowl fulls at a time.

Milk chocolate Flipz
Ready salted Pringles
Mid-range lemoncurd
Cadbury’s Chocolate Fingers (I don’t like these or buy them but if they are in the house I will eat a whole box in under an hour)
Original Alpen
Jacob’s wasp Fig Rolls

Biscuits

Cherry Coke. Only to be bought by the individual can. Otherwise I would just drink whatever was available in one sitting… 😬

Cakeandslippers · 19/10/2026 21:57

Crisps, I can't resist them but they also seem to turn my kids into to animals who will do anything to get to them.

Same. I'm ok with (& like) the regular one, but the sweet & salty is just asking to be eaten by the spoonful, so I don't buy it.
I'm ok with chocolate as long as it isn't open. Ditto big bags of crisps. I've stopped buying small bags.

FindingMeno · 19/10/2026 21:59

Crisps.
If I want them I have to walk to the shop and buy them.
And not a multipack.
Just one pack.

Pistachio cream
i convince myself it’s okay if I have it on corn thins…

OttersOnAPlane · 19/10/2026 22:01

Ooh that's lush! The original salty stuff is pretty good, but that one's wonderful!

Jaffa cakes and maltersers. I’ll eat the whole thing

stonebrambleboy · 19/10/2026 22:05

White chocolate Magnums.

Kitcatsm · 19/10/2026 22:06

Lidl turkey salami 🤤

GameOfJones · 19/10/2026 22:07

Doritos. I could (and have) easily eat an entire sharing bag in one sitting so I don't let myself buy them.

If I really want Doritos I have to buy them as part of a supermarket meal deal which limits me to one packet.

PorkPieForStarters · 19/10/2026 22:07

Chocolate cornflake clusters. Whole box/tub in a go. The issue is I don't resist buying them.

Yesitismeandiamcomingforyou · 19/10/2026 22:08

Biscoff spread in the jar. A teaspoon and it's gone in one sitting.
The same for Haagen Daz salted caramel ice cream, Coop tiramisu ice cream, fresh custard pot.

jimmymcg · 19/10/2026 22:12

Also crunchy nut cornflakes - I cannot stop ever !

justasking111 · 19/10/2026 22:13

Marycontrarygarden · 19/10/2026 22:16

BillieWiper · 19/10/2026 22:17

Clear spirits. I got badly addicted to vodka at one point so can't have it neat or gin, tequila etc in the building.

I let myself have a little can of g&t or a measured pour at a bar but not free pour or at home!
