What food do you purposely not buy?

Is there a food that you purposely don't buy because if it's in the house you'll scoff the lot?!

For me it's crunchy nut cornflakes. OMG I could eat an entire packet in a day, easy! It's like they call out to me "eat me"!!

So I very rarely buy them. What's yours?

Bread. Specifically warburtons thick toastie bread. I think I could eat a whole lot in one go. I sometimes treat myself to a loaf 😂

Lurpak purely because i refuse to spend such an obscene amount on butter when you can get own brand alternatives for a fraction of the price.

But lurpak is the worst of all the butters!!

Crunchy nut cornflakes with double cream instead of milk 😬.....also everything everyone else has mentioned.

Ringtons brazil nut chocolate biscuits. I could eat a whole packet without stopping to draw breath. I'm not a biscuit fan generally, my weaknesses are normally savoury snacks, but those are absolutely irresistable.

They sound gorgeous! Where can I buy some?

Crikey! Isn't it too thick?!

I like mine with ice cold semi skimmed milk, but you have to eat them quickly before they go soggy. So then you have to have a small bowl so you can eat them when they're crunchy. And then because it was only a small bowl, you can have another. And another. And perhaps another....

Reading "Crunchy Nut Cornflakes" so many times suddenly reminded me that I bought a bag of Cadbury Crunchie Rocks a few days ago (cruising the corner shop while hungry after work)...forgot all about them, but have just now found them, ripped open the bag and eaten half in 2 minutes. Thanks for that 😂

Petit Beurre biscuits. It's the sweet, salty, and butter combo. I know if I buy a pack I can eat the whole lot in one go.

livelovelough24 · 19/10/2026 23:25

Anything sweet but mostly ice cream.😩

NewGoodBook · 19/10/2026 23:26

Scottish plain loaf toasted with lurpak butter. I would eat the whole loaf!

StressedStudentPara · 19/10/2026 23:27

Crisps! Not because I scoff them, but the kids do

MyGirlJ · 19/10/2026 23:28

Salt and vinegar McCoys and biscuits of any kind.

JennyForeigner · 19/10/2026 23:46

Cheese. Any delicious 50% fat cheese.

Unless like tonight I have a project on, in which case I will buy it and drown the calories in red wine till completion.

Anonanonay · 19/10/2026 23:47

Sliced white bread. I'll just mainline it as toast oozing with butter.

DaisyDooley · 19/10/2026 23:49

Jaffa cakes
Original Alpen with cold cold full fat milk

They come round in vans in the north but I don’t think they do the south, 8 send my MIL (in Kent) a hamper twice a year.

And yes, they are gorgeous as are the ginger biscuits and the milk chocolate mallows, and I haven’t just eaten two of those either. No sired I didn’t do that.

Chorizo.
TV, tray, chorizo, paring knife, some dark dark mustard. Don't phone me, I'm busy with this.

Thisposthasbeendeleted · 20/10/2026 00:03

I could take or leave chocolate, but I could inhale a family sized bag of dry roasted peanuts.
Also, pringles. I can't have just a few, so I never buy them.

EmptyInTheValley · 20/10/2026 00:06

All crisps. When I used to buy them I often had two packets a day. Weirdly, I don't miss them anymore (about 6 months after stopping).

ErrolTheDragon · 20/10/2026 00:10

Just about everything mentioned so far, except marmite which I keep forgetting to buy, and good high cocoa chocolate. (and peas😂)

Babyswearing · 20/10/2026 00:20

Gold bars. If I buy them, I'm drifting to the cupboard eating them all day till they're gone.

mondaytosunday · 20/10/2026 00:26

Crisps, biscuits, anything yummy basically! I am restricting myself to one ‘fun size’ chocolate (from my Halloween stash) a day. And avoiding Lidl (bakery section right up front).

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/10/2026 00:32

Fortunately considered seasonal, but After Eights. They are only wafer thin, so it’s easy to eat loads!

Howyoualldoworkme · 20/10/2026 00:39

Cinnamon buns. Especially the new ones on special offer in Waitrose at the moment.
I add them to my online order, take them off, add them again...

CarrieMoonbeams · 20/10/2026 00:47

The Co-op extra special salt and vinegar crisps. Sharing bag, my arse!!

Also, when the mood takes me I will happily settle myself on the settee with a tin of condensed milk and a teaspoon. Heaven!

LikeABell · 20/10/2026 00:52

Biscuits!

Boreded · 20/10/2026 00:59

Minasama · 19/10/2026 21:27

Snacks. Then sometimes I do buy biscuits and I am happy…

Me either…if they are there I’ll eat them. My son has been known to eat full packets of anything we buy in just 1-2 days too 🫣 I have zero clue how he stays so thin
