Report it because you never know what pieces come together if they receive other reports about her. Just don't expect them to do anything about it because there is literally no action at all that they can take.

@Allergictoironing

I have to disagree. Just because some think it is tacitly agreeing, you have no proof of that. It is just your opinion. Not fact.

And I did not mock the OP for their grammar and spelling either. Given that you have said that in a response to MY post it looks like you are accusing me of that. So don’t.

Facts matter.

Edited

So if I have more than one comment to make, I need to do a separate post for every point?

You can do as you please but you can make it clear that your further accusations do not extend to me if you use my quote in the first instance.

And why is the lady only letting the dog of the lead when the cats are around but its on the lead any other time.so it looks like its purely only when the cats are around and thats concerning for me.i seen this lady all the way from the bottom of the path and the dog was on the lead the whole time.soon as she gets near the cats the dog comes straight of the lead and she lets that dog know go on theres the cats.now before i get the does the dog understand english save the childish remarks and think to yourself why is she only letting it off when the cats are around.

“I really wish we had a laughing or eye roll react button sometimes.”

Why is there not one? I have laughed myself silly on other threads and it seems a shame not to have it.

Still, I’d rather have the ones we have than nothing. And the search facility. It can be eye opening sometimes.

If she can't control her dog when it wants to chase something then she shouldn't have a dog of that size without rigorous obedience training completed before it reaches adult size. Smaller dog breeds are available. Training is available. Keeping an insufficiently trained dog that is too strong for you to physically control should be a criminal offence.

However any healthy cat is perfectly capable of escaping from a dog in this kind of circumstance.

Where does it say the size of the dog? As far as I can see, it doesn't. It's as if you're implying it's fine for a Dachshund to kill a cat but not for a Rottweiler. A Patterdale Terrier killed a cat near us, that is not a large or strong dog breed.

Flowercandy · Yesterday 08:59

The dog is similier to a chow chow dog when i typed in the discritption as i am not aware of the dog breed i just typed in the discription and it looks to be some kind of chow chow dog

There used to be a laugh emoji.
It was removed by MN because people were using it to be pass-agg.

I'm saying that OP reports that the owner said she couldn't control the dog if it wanted to chase something, so clearly wasn't strong enough to just hold it back. If that's the case then the dog is too big for her. Maybe a chihuahua would be small enough?

OP in one of the photos you posted it looks like the cat is eating cat treats/biscuits. Are you or other people feeding the cats as this is just going to encourage them.

A few of us give treats yes.but they have been around that path donkeys years ive only recently moved here myself may time and the regulers say these cats have been down here years up and down.people think im slme dog hater on here and im going after the woman due to her having a dog thats not the case.i have many dog walking friends who use that path i often sit down and have chats with with there dogs .my mum has dogs ive grown up around family members with dogs.i strictly do not agree with how she purposely took the dog off to go after the cats.

OP posts:
Flowercandy · Yesterday 09:46

Even the local dog walkers themselfs said yesterday aw no thats creul encouraging the dog to do that.

OP posts:
DorsetKnobBiscuit · Yesterday 10:29

Why would someone feed cats in an alleyway often frequented by dog walkers and dogs off lead? Are they intitsing cats into an area where they might be in danger? If so, that's creul.

chapstickandfibs · Yesterday 10:37

I never thought of that @DorsetKnobBiscuit

It wouldn’t be something I’d encourage or participate in.

It doesn’t seem fair on the cats at all - it is like enticing them into an area where they may be vulnerable.

Food left here and there entices all sorts of hungry animals. It may not just be dogs the cats will be in danger from.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · Yesterday 10:38

Nothing actually happened.

No cats were harmed in 9 pages of this thread.

from the initial post

' the lady took the dog of the lead as if she was intitsing it to go for the cats .as i walked back then to leave the path she then does it again and winds tje cats up saying doggy on the lose cats watch out .the cats ran off in fear of this dog being let off the lead

as if - speculation

' she then does it again' - do you mean she let the dog off the lead again or she was intitsing encouraging / enticing / insisting the dog to go for the cats again ?

' and winds tje cats up saying " doggy on the lose cats watch out " ' so warns the cats or winds them up ?

At no point in the opening post did you say if the dog chased the cats.

It took until 8.59am this morning before the size of the dog was mentioned.

OP you really shouldn't be feeding these cats. You have said they are not feral so they are family pets. Some cats are on special diets and the owners will not appreciate you doing this. Plus it will encourage more cats to the area if they know they are going to get fed.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · Yesterday 10:42

If anyone really thinks the RSPCA are going to send out an inspector to sit on a bench for an hour or so in the hope that a woman comes along and lets her dog off the lead whilst warning nearby cats on this path that there is a dog off lead

would that not be a huge waste of the RSPCA resources...
esp considering they are a charity and dependent on our donations.

SmallDogsAreScary · Yesterday 10:47

If the cats are choosing to be in an area frequented by dogs, then they're probably pretty streetwise. But maybe people shouldn't be encouraging the cats by putting food down, because that will also attract rats. No, it isn't nice for someone to seemingly encourage their dog to chase, but people do it all the time, and this won't be the only dog that poses a threat to these cats.

This too.

I’d be annoyed if someone fed my dog treats without asking.

As you say, some pets are on very restricted/specialised diets and anything other than permitted foods can make them ill.

I've never thought of volunteering for the RSPCA before but if it involves sitting on a bench petting various passing cats and dogs I'm in.

Really you obviously havent read all the comments then

I did.

If you can point me to a post which says they agreed with what the person was doing (and not what you think they said or what you think they were thinking) then I would join you in your karma wishes wholeheartedly.

I responded to another poster about this and it is important not to make allegations that cannot be substantiated.

The fact is that no-one did anything of the sort at all.

Flowercandy · Yesterday 11:39

The cat that i give treats to i know the owner even she brings treats down to they have choose this path for years way before i moved here in may.the tabby cat doesnt get feed because the owner said she happily feed but loves it down that path.the black cat owner i chat to daily thanks me for feeding the cat because she cant keep the cat in she said he wouldnt be eating at all if it wasnt for me.so no im not feeding other peoples cats randmoly ive got to know the owners and the locals.

OP posts:
Flowercandy · Yesterday 11:40

And still its not the pointthese cats choose the path they have for years the locals have said.now irresponsible idiots like that woman getting enjoyment so it seems for her dog to chase these cats is compeltly diffrent matter to if the cats enjoy the coastal path more than there homes .

OP posts:
Flowercandy · Yesterday 11:42

What so because the cats choose to stay on the path then the dog is intitled to do this yes? Its a woodland path to may i add so around it is woods they go right the way out its a massive public land of woods then u have the path going along it in the middle.
