Hi im posting here due to concerns about a local path way i live near.its a lovely community we have local dog walkers go down the path just a lovely little place for a walk.however we have some lovely cats who have pitched up home there to lol.now there was this one lady walking her dog i was on the bench down the path with 2 of the local cats the lady took the dog of the lead as if she was intitsing it to go for the cats .as i walked back then to leave the path she then does it again and winds tje cats up saying doggy on the lose cats watch out .the cats ran off in fear of this dog being let off the lead now this womans response to all this was"i have to do this or she wll have my arm off and pull me"well im sorry but if the dog can cause that much injury to you what the hell could it do to the poor cats.am i right in wanting to report this to my local council?

MozzieFreeZone · 15/10/2026 21:16

Do you think the cats understood what she was saying ? 🤔

Flowercandy · 15/10/2026 21:17

I will also add when she did it the first time im front of me it was on the lead when she seen the cats she took the dog off and said go on then like its purely to go for the cats it was disgracful behaviour.im still in shock by how sadistic people can be.

Are the cats feral? I think that's more of a problem.

Flowercandy · 15/10/2026 21:21

Im bascially saying do you all agree that a lady lets her dog off the lead purely to attack and chase cats .and the reason for her doing this is because apparently her dog will pull her arm put her socket so she said.

My rl experience when I walk ddog off lead is cats chase her. We have a local cat who strolls into our house hisses at my dog then lays on her dog bed.

I get that but this woman it seems is doing it dilibratly the dog is being told go on go get them.its a bit diffrent if its natural but this woman seemingly is basically telling the dog go and chase them.if the dog supposedly pulls her arm so bad then why inflict that on a poor cat.if she cant control the dog then it shouldnt be going out for walks with her.

Cats aren't stupid, they will learn to stay away if dogs are regularly walked along the path.

ImJustATeenageGreboBaby · 15/10/2026 21:25

Did the dog attack the cats? It's not clear from your post.

WutheringTights · 15/10/2026 21:26

Did the dog actually attack the cats?

I walk my dog off lead. When I let him off I give him a command to go, so he knows he is released to sniff, have a wee etc. He has never attacked anything or anyone.

The cats have been on the path for years.theres loads of dog walkers that dont act like that.this woman is dilibratly taking hers off the lead to go get the cats.

What breed of dog is it.

We have a guy round our way whose dog kills cats far too regularly.

Did the dog actually chase the cats. I say 'go on then' to my dogs when I let them off lead, meaning go and have a run.

He chased them yes but she said go on go get them.intising the dog to go and get them.or is this maybe a bormal thing dog walkers do ove only ever owned cats but looking up today this isnt the case.

That's awful. Have you reported him?

Flowercandy · 15/10/2026 21:30

Chasing cats is a natural instinct for many dogs, but letting a dog off the lead to chase them as a reward for pulling dangerously is not safe or recommended behavior for an owner.

He has been reported many times, nothing ever happens.
