Badenoch's speech about to begin. I predict nastiness, political point scoring and crap about the "party of welfare".

Edited

Sounds about right - she's nothing if not predictable

And policies which are either pie in the sky or more of the same shite that failed for 14 years.

Indeed.

DuncinToffee · 07/10/2026 11:35

Burnham's speech stood out because he spoke about Labour without attacking other parties.

Very true. Well, that won’t be true of Badenoch’s speech, she has no other MO when making speeches.

LizzieW1969 · 07/10/2026 11:41

So why is she more popular than her party? I can’t understand it.

Feelings are mixed.

Badenoch gloats about Starmer's downfall, and insists 'I'm not someone who gets written off'

Now where have we heard that before!

Not just the Nasty Party but also the Negative Party

TemperanceWest · 07/10/2026 11:55

"What’s Labour been up to this last year?

Keir Starmer, remember him? Last year he was talking about being in power for a decade.

Now he’s not even an MP.

Life comes at you pretty fast"

Yes, Kemi. Now what abput your offer to the British public? Why should we vote Tory.

Notonthestairs · 07/10/2026 11:57

Tory speeches offer 2 constants. Trash talk Labour & the promise tax cuts. Have been doing the same schtick since time began. Will suit plenty of MN.

We have been told that what she says doesn't matter as she is the opposition now, keep up

Oh yes. Sorry

"We have changed our party.

There is still a lot of work to do. People are looking through the shop window. They like what they see. But let’s be honest, not enough of them are buying it. We need to fix that.

A few weeks ago I was at London Fashion Week attending Marks and Spencer’s first ever catwalk show.

M&S is a brand that has been around for a hundred years. Not so long ago, critics said they were a bit stuffy and stuck in the past. Some were even questioning whether the brand would survive. Do you see where I’m going with this conference?

M&S is back in fashion. Great looks at affordable prices. They have adapted their style for today’s market and people are flooding back, including me"

Is this piffle what she was working on when she posted this photo? It is embarrassing.

I thought she liked The Fold? At least that’s what she said last week.

She is finally distancing herself from Reform.

About time too

Finally, something positive!

placemats · 07/10/2026 12:20

The Tories have not acknowledged their mistakes in past Governments.

Instead the focus is on making sure everyone stands firm in the idealogical beliefs of the Tory government - one that has radically changed several times since 2016.

"The Conservatives have had an export boom. We have had an export boom of drama queens going to Reform."

Good grief 😂

Burnham's speech stood out because he spoke about Labour without attacking other parties.

She's spent most of her speech slagging off other parties and delivering personal attacks on Burnham. Her fangirls will love it, particularly the ones who'd shoehorn "but Labour" into a thread on potty training.

Would you trust them when they say "No uniting with Reform."

I wouldn't trust them to put my bins out.

I half expected her to tell the conference she was wearing M&S knickers.

Trott as well. There's no honour amongst thieves.

ilovesooty · 07/10/2026 12:26

"It's taxpayers' money"

The Kemi groupies and benefit bashers of MN will be loving it.

ilovesooty · 07/10/2026 12:29

Nasty little snipe tying Manchester bus fares to defence policy. And now the tugging at motherly heart strings to have a go at ethnic minorities. She really is a piece of work.

Davidson and Street are far more level headed but not on the front benches and centrist fringe players are not really heard
