They introduced the threshold

You couldn't make it up.

But now it's dressed up in polyester as hard workers.

They have scrapped the proposals to curb jury trials

They have scrapped the proposals to curb jury trials

I can see why they've done that, but as has been said many times before, we wont benefit from swifter court dates if there isn't some investment in both the estate and the staff. Decades of underinvestment is the reason why it takes so long to get listed - it leads to witnesses dropping out, increased number of prisoners on remand, and a lack of faith in the process.
There's no easy fix.

Because that's not a weapon you want to hand an incoming government.

That reminds me of the episode in Father Ted when Mrs Doyle was given a teasmade as a Christmas present to take the misery out of making the tea. Hating it she admitted in the end that "Maybe I like the misery!".

It’s the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable street today.
Apparently Tony Benn was bang on when he said “There is no final victory, as there is no final defeat. There is just the same battle. To be fought, over and over again. So toughen up, bloody toughen up.” (Not about Cable Street obvs).
Exhausting though, isn’t it?

I wonder what the Jewish People's Council Against Fascism and Anti-Semitism, one of the organisations that rallied people to Cable Street 90 years ago, would have thought of the motion the Green Party conference passed today.

That would make for an interesting thread. Why don't you start one?

Agree, definitely worth a bit of civilised debate.

I'll just add it to the existing thread on the Green Party.

That Green Party motion passed by 1022 votes to 830.

It will most likely be investigated by the ECHR as they did with Labour.

OP posts:
TemperanceWest · 04/10/2026 16:38

It's been condemned by most of the Green MPs I think? Polanski wasn't there from what I gather. I think he is on borrowed time. He won't win Holborn and St Pancras.
