anger is anger. can get anyone regardless of class. and that man was angry.

the woman who survived him is the main concern, hope she's okay. and his wife and kids.

I don't think whoever did was trying to murder the stranger to him, it could have ended with her death but you aren't suggesting that person planned to kill someone are you?

I don't think whoever did was trying to murder the stranger to him,

If you go out of your way to push someone into traffic, how is that not trying to murder/kill them?

Not just any old little bitty traffic either.

A double-decker bus.

Still, ain't nothing a would-be-murderer can do without some Mumsnetter showing up to defend him.

Are you unfamiliar with arrogant, selfish, entitled men who don't give a seconds thought to pushing someone out of the way because they think they are superior?

Of course he wasn't trying to murder he, he was being a knob head.

He'd have pushed her bus or no bus, the bus was behind him when he pushed her

But he pushed her into a bus lane on a busy London road. He didn't just push her to the ground...
Her pushed her into a bus lane.

There are women who refuse to move too. The "refuse to move" thing is not gender specific.

I'm a man and I always move, because I have other things to be doing than getting involved in childish "refuse to move" politics.

One thing I don't do though is step onto the road. If a crowd of people is coming towards me, then the trick is to take the inside of the pavement, furthest away from the road. Then they can't push me onto the road.

Are you seriously coming on here and telling women that they're imagining it? What the fuck experience do you have living as a woman? None is the answer.

MakeThatMakeSense · 16/09/2026 22:33

LadyValerie · 16/09/2026 15:38

Have you seen the footage? She wasn’t in his way, he was running alongside the bus, ran past a man then crossed diagonally across the footpath towards the woman and pushed her into the road. It looked a lot more deliberate than just a passing swipe at someone blocking his path.

To me it looked like they had one of those moments when you both move in the same direction but mean to move in the opposite direction. Because she seems to initially move slightly diagonally, too.
But for some reason his reaction to this mild inconvenience is to push an innocent woman into a bus lane.
Because he's a psycho who thinks he rules (ruled) the world.

To be fair, he's also coming on here blaming women for men committing crimes because male criminals aren't always single virgins.

If you look at the video the runner had, just seconds before, run past a man walking towards him. It was a wide pavement and the woman was walking in approximately the same line as the man ahead of her that the runner had passed easily. He actually veered over to run right at her so he could push her. It was absolutely intentional.

CurdinHenry · 16/09/2026 22:54

A way of punishing the person who eventually grassed him up

What a prick

Some men absolutely hate women. If you have spent your life surrounded by kind, respectful men then lucky you ( I’m not being sarcastic). However, many of us have unfortunately crossed paths with men who just hate women. It’s as simple and horrific as that. I don’t bother to analyse the why’s anymore as it’s an irrational hatred of a whole group of people. They need to analyse and interrogate their own beliefs, but they won’t.

The best type of abuser is a dead one.

I agree

I have rarely met men who are like this, I've been lucky overall

But when you do meet them... Christ

Scum

@Pplareasthickasshit Are you seriously coming on here and telling women that they're imagining it? What the fuck experience do you have living as a woman? None is the answer.

I have plenty of experience walking around outside, and I have encountered both men and women who don't move.

To me, it appears that a lot of it is just mindlessness. Two people walking towards me likely don't realise that they've pushing me onto the road, but it's still rude.

Plasmal · 16/09/2026 23:16

I think its the fact he also ran over a cyclist with his motorbike and failed to stop. If he had received more punishmemt fpr that perhaps he wouldnt have tried to murder again.

Im thinking they will find others come forward where hes pushed them.. Or driven at them etc.

Also according to dm he pushed her in front of the bus carried on with his run then went back past and the womam tried to talk to him but he carried on!

Though tbh it doesnt really surprise me he wouldbe a banker as higher up its all about talking about what you can do

Oh, it was absolutely intentional, and I can't believe there's any debate about it. You can see on the video that he REALLY jabs her. She goes flying.

I had a similar experience a few years ago (minus pram and niece) with a guy but it was a middle aged man in a suit on a Boris bike. Wasn't impressed I didn't get out of his way even though I had priority. I told him to read the Highway Code.

I didn't think he was being anti-women, I assumed he was a partner in a law firm or similar and was used to everyone jumping to his tune and didn't like it when I didn't.

That's the only time I've experienced it, although it's an occupational hazard in London with all the lycra louts and e-bike riders dinging their bells at you if you walk within 10m of them.

Sometime in the last couple of years, there was an incident with a middle-aged male cyclist in a park - might have been Wimbledon. There was a woman and toddler on a narrow footpath and he was cycling towards them. He spitefully jabbed his knee out to push the toddler over as he went past. Unfortunately for him, it was caught on camera.

There really are some shocking people out there. I don't care what they're going through - I have been through horrendous times and horrendous stress in my life, and I've never had the slightest urge to knock a toddler over or push a person into traffic. And even if I DID have an urge - which I can't imagine - but if I did, I wouldn't ACT on it! I can't even begin to understand someone who a) wants to do that and b) actually does it. It speaks of a worrying lack of brakes, or checks and balances, inside them.

And you can kill someone by knocking them over, if they hit their head the wrong way. Even if you don't mean to. Happened to a really nice young man in my town, aged 19. He was going into a small Tesco's and the louts outside asked him to get them some beer as they were underage. He said no, one of them knocked him down, he hit his head, and he ended up passing away. Camilla's brother also died from falling over on a pavement in London. That cyclist could have killed the toddler.

Yes, that too is appalling. It's inconceivable that someone didn't know who it was. Awful too that had he eventually been found guilty, the fact that by not speaking out, innocent men were arrested and under suspicion for all these years, when someone could and should have come forward and saved them and their families from such an ordeal.

I can imagine a scenario where his ex didn't feel safe to report anything. The fact that she did it after they separated makes it very easy to wonder whether it was a safe relationship.

I know, we have no facts, but based on my own experiences, and those I see repeatedly, every day, this is where my mind went.

Which is your male experience.

Numerous women on the thread have documented very different experiences.

Trying to explain how wrong they are is just making you look very foolish. Women have different experiences while walking, cycling etc than men do. Maybe try and accept that rather than trying to explain people’s actual experiences away.

I see this a lot, claiming someone who says something they don't like to be part of the 'be kind' brigade. Have you just made this up, or do you know this poster to have claimed to be a 'be kind' proclaimer? And why should anyone be sad about this man's death? Even if it will never be proven that he was the Putney Pusher it has been proven that he displayed violence towards another random woman. Why are you so sad over his death?

Brooklyn70 · 16/09/2026 23:57

this was on Reddit a few months ago

A banker suspected of pushing an innocent woman into the path of a double-decker bus on Putney Bridge in London was arrested after police obtained new information from a former partner.

The 44-year-old man was questioned on Monday after detectives made an apparent breakthrough in the so-called “Putney pusher” case, which has remained unsolved for more than nine years.

Officers are believed to have spoken to a former partner of the suspect in recent weeks after receiving a tip-off from a third party.

The man, who has royal lineage and previously served as an officer in the British Army, was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm at his £1.4 million home in west London. Once in custody, he was separately arrested on suspicion of possession of class A and class B drugs. He has since been bailed, pending further investigation, in relation to all the offences.

The case generated headlines around the world in 2017 when the Metropolitan Police released dramatic CCTV video that showed a male jogger shoving a female pedestrian into the path of a number 430 bus on Putney Bridge in southwest London during the morning rush hour

But we're not talking about that sort of "mindlessness". We're not stupid, we know the difference between a jostle on a busy street, a bit of "you move, no you move" tangoing.....

We're talking about the deliberate going out of his way to aggressively shove you. That some men do to women.

I experienced it once in Victoria station. The guy veered right off his path and didn't just bump me, he actively shoved his shoulder forward into mine purposely. It's very different.

But you wouldn't know, you're a man, it won't have happened to you. You're just going to have to believe us.

I was once shoved from behind by a man running through Kings X to get a train. Sadly for him, I watched him all the way onto the train as I was getting the same train (he wasn't late, there was still eleven minutes when I got on after him) and followed him into his carriage where he was sitting (within moments the train would be full, some of the people left standing would have been far less able to stand than this speedy git) and I stood in front of him and gave him a real Miss Haversham dressing down. I didn't plan it, but I was fuming. Then I marched off up the train to find a seat.

Both of these acts by men were battery, by the way. Neither was mindless accident. Oh, and to be clear, neither apologised. Obviously! (Though train guy was agape at me, as was the rest of his carriage!).

I agree and I hope she is ok, it was very brave of her to come forward.

And also - I hope the victim is ok tonight. I would imagine she has a great deal of trauma following the incident and this news will probably have retraumatised her. I hope she finds peace 💐

I can think of several men off the top of my head who had great parents and a privileged upbringing who turned out to be misogynists. Professional men, good careers, intelligent well respected popular men. They walk amongst us. You don't have to scratch very deep below the surface to find it.

All the misogynistic, bullying and xenophobic kids I know learnt it at home. Parents frequently sound lovely because they know how to be lovely in public.
