Goodness me, wasn't expecting that.

Like pp, I've noticed a difference. Women can be thoughtless and bump in to you, but with many men, it's an affront to their masculinity if you take up space that they feel entitled to.

I've never had a woman in the street lay her hands on me or move to do so, to physically move me out of their way. Only men.

MintyBadger1975 · 16/09/2026 20:59

Yep, classic narcissist with Oedipus complex.

ThatCyanCat · 16/09/2026 20:59

shuggles · 16/09/2026 20:41

@ThatCyanCat You're suggesting that women should shag men more to stop them pushing us into traffic

Actually, I suggested the opposite of that. I'm saying that women should stop shagging men who push women into traffic, and then maybe there's a small chance that those men may want to learn how to behave like normal civilised people.

No difference. You see what looks like a man attempting murder and your primary concern is about how he had a girlfriend and women are responsible for using and gatekeeping sex to prevent such crimes. And we could spend a week telling you how fucked up this is and you still won't see it.

Very sad.
Anyway, moving on…

It's only sad for those who had to suffer him. It's not sad for him. I would bet my arse he's done worse and got away with it.

Somethinggg · 16/09/2026 21:09

Do we even know Brandram had a partner in 2017? Google tells me he was divorced from his first wife in 2014 and married the second in 2021.

Lemonpossett · 16/09/2026 15:10

And a Royal Background…. What an extraordinary turn of events.

It was probably his background that made him think he was untouchable.

nomas · 16/09/2026 15:41

He also served as a former British Army captain in Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan.

I dread to think what acts of depravity he did there.

Yep, when nobody was looking and he knew he could get away with it.

The woman who was pushed would be dead too if it wasnt for the quick reflexes of that bus driver

Exactly. I feel sorry for her and the bus driver, not him.

RafaFan · 16/09/2026 21:15

First cousin to Phil the Greek. Arrogance checks out then.

Not correct. Brandram's grandmother Princess Katherine was Prince Philip's first cousin. Their fathers were brothers. Brandram is therefore a first cousin twice removed to Prince Philip.

Seems to me like an intentionally stupid comment designed to stoke up some kind of anti-royal sentiment, given that if you had thought it through the dates would make it virtually impossible for him to be a first cousin of somebody born in 1921, whose father was born in 1882. Was Brandram's parent around 100 when he was born?

RapunzelHadExtensions · 16/09/2026 21:25

Plinketyplonks · 16/09/2026 15:51

His poor kids, to have all that known about your father. I wonder why the police were taking so long to charge him?

It's not a police charging decision, it was with CPS.

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 16/09/2026 21:26

I have no opinion of this man, however I feel for the family left behind.

As the average, fully grown woman has the same upper body strength as a 11 to 12 year old boy, even if women do push other women, clearly men pushing women will cause more damage/issues/injuries.

MintyBadger1975 · 16/09/2026 21:27

rollypollly · 16/09/2026 17:14

Just to say he had been arrested but not charged. It doesn't follow he was guilty/was in fact the Putney Pusher. As the BBC article says:

Detectives identified more than 50 people of interest following the incident.
The Met had initially closed its investigation in 2018 after three men had been arrested and released without charge.

It's not impossible that he was innocent and the death was unconnected or that he was innocent but felt he was going to be scapegoated.

It would be terrible if he was not the Putney Pusher but gets treated in death as if he was just because he had been arrested. Imagine he was innocent and that was your son/husband/friend.

Given he could afford the best legal representation out there, if he hadn't done it and hadn't been charged then logically he had little to worry about in terms of being convicted, although the justice system is far from perfect. It would be very interesting to hear from those who served with him and who have worked for/with him. My gut says he was the Putney Pusher. He fits the profile for that type of offence.

The CPS always takes a long time, often making poor decisions, for which they have to be challenged. Anyone who works with the Police, legal services, etc, could atest to that. The CPS isn't fit for purpose. Given his background, expensive barrister and connections, even if he did do it, he may well have gotten away with it. It's not what you know....

He may well have been informed that a charge was coming so took the easy way out.

I should imagine he had connections with people who had connections etc.

ContraryNoodle · 16/09/2026 21:42

Sounds like the world might be a better place after the demise of such a horrendous individual...

Terfedout · 16/09/2026 21:51

2ndHandLou · 16/09/2026 15:16

I don't think whoever did was trying to murder the stranger to him, it could have ended with her death but you aren't suggesting that person planned to kill someone are you?

Seriously. Wtf. He almost did kill her. I wish apologists like you would just not post this crap.

PrettyLittleRose · 16/09/2026 21:53

I can't bring myself to care one single iota about him...

I agree with previous posters, you do sound (a bit) like you're defending his actions @Fartughtyred

It was probably his background that made him think he was untouchable.

I'd say being in the army also contributed too. Someone close to me in the forces is startlingly devoid of any emotions.

Have you seriously never experienced men who refuse to move when they come toward you on the pavement? I don’t live somewhere as big as London, and I’ve definitely experienced it. We’ve been conditioned to move out of their way—you probably aren’t even aware that you’re doing it. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

I have experienced men on pavements refusing to give way, yes. But not ones giving me a random shove. That's why I find it so surprising someone says they have "lost count of the times" it happened to them. And I walk through busy London streets daily.

PoliteGreyDreamer · 16/09/2026 22:01

Really disappointed by all of the excuse making for this man, now we know more about his background.

I always felt it was odd how long it took them to catch him, and if anything the Royal connection doesn't make this look any better to me.

How bonkers he had such a high profile job despite a conviction of violence against a woman. One rule for them...

I had a posh, middle aged bloke run hard into me near Sea Container's House well over a decade ago. He didn't knock me over, he didn't push me into the road, but it didn't feel accidental, and he certainly didn't stop. In fact he ran off very fast and people couldn't stop him. I shouted at him and he shouted in garbled posh bloke back at me. He was barrelling along so aggressively he nearly hit a couple of other people further up the road (I think they saw what happened to me and jumped out of the way), cue some more shouting.

Somebody did stop and ask me if I was ok. I was the smallest, youngest woman in the street at the time, fwiw.

This absolutely is something nasty posh men do. That part of South Bank/Blackfriars is not far from the city.

It's not just men that push though - a woman pushed another woman on a bike a few years ago and the cyclist woman died. The pusher had mental health issues, but I do wonder if she'd have done the same to a man. I think all we can say is that people push women.

I know the case you’re referring to - she didn't push her, she kind of waved at her and she fell into the traffic as she was cycling on the pavement

So yeah, men push women.

Butchyrestingface · 16/09/2026 22:21

Assuming the deceased was indeed the culprit -

I like to think there is at least one woman walking about, completely oblivious, who is now going to live her full lifespan because a man who would otherwise have pushed her into the path of traffic, without so much as a backwards glance, is no more.

This is her happy ending, and she'll never know it. 🙂

CossyBunt · 16/09/2026 22:22

Some men absolutely hate women. If you have spent your life surrounded by kind, respectful men then lucky you ( I’m not being sarcastic). However, many of us have unfortunately crossed paths with men who just hate women. It’s as simple and horrific as that. I don’t bother to analyse the why’s anymore as it’s an irrational hatred of a whole group of people. They need to analyse and interrogate their own beliefs, but they won’t.

The best type of abuser is a dead one.
