Influx of far-right posters

Why has the site suddenly had an influx of far-right posters? Almost overnight.

Is this a concerted campaign by the black shirts from Dover, Reform or Tommy ten names to infiltrate women's SM?

I suppose they have as much right to express their opinions as anyone else on here. Once it doesn't cross any guidelines you can either reply to them or ignore . I think it is far more prevelent than you think amongst lots of different demographics . MN isn't just for liberals . I think some of their logic just shows how moronic they are .

You know full well that is not what OP is saying. There is a difference between discussing what is happening and pedalling hatred.

It is very concerning that Mumsnetters are cheering on criminal thugs. Agree with @TooBigForMyBoots that lots of masks have slipped.

Its been happening for a while but yes it's suddenly ramping up fast. Ive been saying for ages about the massive increase in racism on the site, its all part of the same thing. We are living in strange and unsettling times 🙁

I agree. A well heeled, high earning/high tax paying readership will tend to be right wing and it is often reflected on here.

But this support of what is effectively, a British nazi party/movement, almost overnight (e.g. within the last few days) is different for the site.

Do bots get paid? Are they real people doing it, for money? I know nothing about this.

Yes, I thought some sort of organised action. This makes sense.

I am not far right but have been a Conservative Party Member since 1978. I've always been surprised at how left leaning a supposedly middle class forum is.

Yes there was definitely some kind of influx overnight. But tbh what they were writing was so profoundly stupid that I couldn't be bothered to report them. The only people they were harming was their own reputation

That said I am pretty left wing and tolerant and I am afraid I have reached the end of my tether with the small boats situation. If you live in an affected community now it's pretty awful (I don't, but I work with people who do). It's easy to live, like I do, in a pretty and salubrious village and just be all virtuous about wanting to support "asylum seekers" but I am afraid there are people bumping up against the reality of a huge influx of economic migrants and criminals who inevitably feel quite differently about it and their voices need to be heard to

I don't want Reform to get to power. But that means Labour have to listen to working people who are absolutely done with having worse and worse quality of life while others (either in the country already or coming in) take and take and take.
I know, because I saw it happen, that immigrants jumped the queue for social housing while working people I support live in awful conditions and are told they will be on a social housing list for decades. The immigrants should not have been allowed to jump the queue

@Beepen I do live in one of those areas, what is said is bollocks. Reform supporters are clustered in areas with low levels of immigrants

It's a pre-organised media campaign to go with the pre-organised masked-men dramas.

It's been going on for years and is very professional.

Sometimes there are mess-ups where the real world fails to come up with the "right" material for the media campaign – like the time Jack Prosobiec kicked off the Twitter side of things during a French presidential election... only to discover that the French had been onto his team for months and had been feeding them junk. So his team's drop of "secret hacked files" immediately before the election fell rather flat.

Then there was the time Stephen Yaxley-Lennon aka Tommy Robinson had a media campaign all ready to roll about how British courts were letting off rape gangs... only for the British courts to recall him to jail before he could succeed in creating a mis-trial in the rape prosecution, and the rapists were duly jailed.

And obviously not everyone posting is wittingly part of a pre-organised campaign.

The whole point of using anonymous social media is to swept up normal folk in the discussion and then hide among them. Then the normal folk get outraged if anyone suggests there's anything organised going on.

That's our world today, folks.

Exactly. I live in a fairly low income area, fairly large clumps of LA housing, unemployment etc. More brown faces than 20 years ago. But the brown faces aren't the ones causing problems and they're not housed in the LA housing, either. It's the indigenous population.

@Beepen I absolutely agree with you about the necessity of making sure there are proper services and housing in this country, accessible in poorer areas as much as richer.

In fact I think a large part of the social-media-campaigns' thrust is to try to make us imagine we can't agree about anything. They usually offer us two extreme – sometimes ludicrous – positions and try to say it's an either/or choice between them, "anyone who isn't with us is against us" type stuff.

It's a false dichotomy. In reality people often have an enormous amount of common ground – even if they don't agree 100% about every detail. Which is normal life.

Could be bots. They are very clever and can sound very real these days.
And before anyone says anything, its very well researched that bots are much more commonly used by the right (although there are left wing bots too!) And the use of bots has expanded massively in recent years across all kinds of platforms and can be very difficult to identify in an automated way.
