Couples who Hold Hands

I’m interested in other people’s views on couples who walk around holding hands.

Do you and your partner do this?

We do, but I’ve noticed that I don’t really see others doing it and wondered if we’re perceived as a bit weird.

Sometimes we do unless the dogs are pulling us. Never thought too much about it. I also hold hands with my teenage children a lot - away from their friends! 😆. We recently walked over Brooklyn Bridge, all four of us holding hands. My son always has his arm around me or his dad. I often hold hands with my husband in bed.

Absolutely fine and quite sweet, but not always appropriate - nothing more annoying than two abreast ambling along on narrow pavements or London Underground!

We don't usually but will the odd time. Years of kids and dogs has left us feeling unused to it now.
I always think it's sweet when I see couples holing heads, and at least you're not on your phones!

DH and I tend to, I never really thought of it as an issue!

We do sometimes but dh I swear dh has a nuclear reactor inside him. He's so warm. I like to be cool!

almost always while we're walking, unless the pavement is too narrow.

My parents always used to hold hands and I thought it was so sweet and somehow comforting. Now , I’m always reaching for DH when we’re in bed or sitting next to each other, but not when walking.

We will do it when we are out together, like a date, but only for a few seconds, which is how long it takes before we remember we walk at different speeds and have sweaty palms.

We often do, I hadn't thought anything of it until a friend said she'd seen us in town and thought it was really sweet! We don't all the time, eg Tesco or if it's busy and holding hands makes us an obstacle for others, but we live by the coast and quite often walk the seafront into town or just for a walk and usually do then

Not weird! I think it’s lovely - a sign you’re content with each other and happy to share it with the world

I guess we are weird too!

I am curious now- my body temp has always run naturally high, I am always warm/hot in most places even when the temp outside is cold. At work its a constant battle as I want the heating down whilst everyone else wants it up

Does your husband find it hard to sit still? always fidgeting and moving about?/ high energy?

I am like that and have always wondered if its why I am so hot all the time- I am constantly burning energy

Love holding hands. Cannot stand it however when one person has their hand on the other one's bum in public. Get a fucking room you absolute melt!

When I see this I assume they haven’t been together all that long 😂 I hold hands with my newish partner, it’s nice.

Would love to but hate the sweaty palms feeling after a few minutes! Will walk for ages linked arms though. Don’t think of other couples holding hands as weird at all!

Rarely outside beyond early stage in the relationship. I rarely see people my age doing it (40s) but there was one school mum that when both her and her husband came together they were ALWAYS holding hands, in a very pressured way. If they were walking and someone or something came between them, they wouldn't 'drop' the handhold and then resume it, they'd stay 'tied' to each other as if their hands were literally stuck together and it caused some really odd and awkward moments. It might look momentarily sweet, but gives me weird vibes overall.

On a walk, absolutely. DH is always happy to as long as I don’t crush his thumb or start swinging - both of which I tend to do unconsciously.

We don’t hold hands in bed but I like to hold his wrist - I can encircle it comfortably and it is a lovely way to connect at the end of the day.

Always hold hands. Even when we are sat next to each other we hold hands. And I still reach for his bum, and no not newly together, been together for over 16 years he’s just my favourite person.

Alot of ppl think public displays of affections not ok.
Given todays society its bound to be a phobia!
I love holding hands and like seeing other people as well.

I think it’s fine, but not in busy cities, attractions or town centres. Not if it means you are blocking the walkway.

Together 24 years, aged 50 and 60 with three kids and we still hold hands. He gets in my absolute wick sometimes but couldn't live without him!

We have been together about a million years and still hold hands when out and about. I’d say we are aware of others though and wouldn’t do it where we’d become an obstruction! We also both have a ‘side’ when walking along and it feels really wrong to end up on the ‘wrong side’ we will both notice and swap instantly as that feels so weird!

My husband and I have been together 10 years married, nearly 2 years. We hold hands when we are out walking our dog, when walking in public. We do unlink if there is an obstacle or would be in the way of others.

We don't hold hands as my hands get really hot and uncomfortable but I always link my arm through his when we walk. Always my left through his right.

Yes sometimes, more so if we're on a walk rather than trying to get somewhere. We've been together 20 years.
We didn't for a long time when we were small child wrangling though.

My eldest told me she was on a date and the boy held her hand so they didn't get separated in a crowd - then carried on holding her hand. I thought it was very sweet.
