What is the worst thing that has spilt from your cupboards?

any mess is a bad mess but what is the worst thing from your kitchen cupboards that has spilt? i was reaching for something the other day and an opened packet of chia seeds came falling out. now, if you know chia seeds, they are very small and do literally go everywhere! following them a packet of pumpkin seeds decided to join in and spread itself everywhere!

Fish sauce was a bad one.

I see your chia and raise you an exploded tin of mango puree.

(Though I suspect the fish sauce would beat almost any spillage!)

Honey jar smashed. Absolute nightmare! DP tried to clean it which made things worse as he infected all the cleaning items with honey and spread it everywhere with the mop!!

We had 700sqft of sticky floor for about a month. I had to rinse multiple times a day with white vinegar. Shoe soles would be scrubbed daily and soaked in trays of vinegar. Socks quickly turned black as they turned into little sticky dust collectors.

It got to the point where I just banned shoes and socks for a week and everyone wiped their soles with baby wipes intermittently. That was actually the only way we finally resolved it!

A large tub of paprika. I also found a tin of golden syrup had been knocked over and had slowly leaked all over the shelf.

Tomato ketchup fell out of a high fridge shelf. Looked like there had been a massacre in the kitchen.

Blood.
I keep the bodies in the freezer now.

A jar of garlic paste fell splattered all over the kitchen

It was either a whole bottle of maple syrup or a bottle of vegetable oil, both very upsetting 😆

Bottle of maple syrup, very glad I was away and DH had to deal with it.

Most upsetting was when they repaired the shelf supports broke and every childhood mug I had bounced off the worktop and smashed onto the tiles floor 😢

Not from a cupboard but I one knocked over a powder fire extinguisher and the mess was INSANE.

Thick cream powder over my entire kitchen.

Took HOURS to clean up.

Also, it had A Smell.

Had a virtually full bag of ground coffee fall out and spill all over the gas hob and floor. Took fecking ages to clean that one up. Not quite the same but I once bought a large tin of white paint and popped in the boot of the car only to find when i got home that it had fallen over, opened, and spilt all over the place. Was waving a fist at the clouds over that one.

Jar of instant coffee.(supect:cat) We'd gone out and before going id washed the kitchen floor. So we came home to melted and solidified coffee everywhere. And a line of the culprits footprints trailing through the house.

A watermelon once exploded in our kitchen - it got in places i never thought possible. And STANK

Not kitchen or food related but i opened a cupboard in the garage. And a big box of assorted split pins fell and box broke apart. There were THOUSANDS. Some of them very very small.

He sorted it but had the grumps for HOURS

Giant bag of red lentils. Split from top to bottom. Was still finding the odd one days later

Golden syrup! Just so sticky 😭

A bag of mealworms, they looked as if they were alive when they first landed on the utility room floor.

Not an actual spill but tried opening a pressure cooker of dahl a bit too early…. All up the walls, ceiling and me 😳

funniest spillage ever was when me and four colleagues were interviewing and between candidates our finance director opened his healthy smoothie drink that then exploded its milk like substance everywhere, carpet walls, ceiling but funny when he turned round and his face, including glasses were dripping the stuff his tie was covered, he took off the glasses and had the imprint of them clean in a covered face, we were hysterical laughing, goodness knows what the candidate waiting thought😁 honestly one of the funniest moments ever still makes me laugh years later.

I feel you…..I used to work as a cleaner, I had a client who kept bees and made his own honey. Part of the process was straining it many, many times between buckets, except having the buckets close together didn’t seem important to him 🤦🏻‍♀️ It was dripped and dribbled everywhere, got walked all through the house and we used to be on our hands and knees trying to clean the worst of it. Like you we used a lot of vinegar!

Black treacle!

My dad used to brew beer. That exploded once. My worst was probably a hidden potato that had gone very, very bad.

Rice!

My dad used to make his own wine and there was always at least one demi-john that literally blew its top - he kept them in the bathroom - my room adjoined it - I'd get woken up a loud pop and then the bathroom was full of silty, gungy splatters the following day.
I wish I could say the wine was worth it but it tasted like dishwater.

Absolute worst was a bag of spuds with just one liquified mouldy spud at the bottom of the bag, which leaked.
The stench was something else.

Not from a cupboard but a tin of emulsion paint fell down the last two or three stairs. I was watching like in some sort of slow motion. You can recognise what’s happening but there’s nothing you can do to stop it 😱
