Anyone had a baby at 45 or 46 after older children?

Has anyone had a baby at 45/46 after already having dc?

How did you feel - was it the same or harder than previous pregnancies?

Im torn on what to do as we’ve always said we want one more and since 43 I’ve felt very perimenopausal and exhausted. If I felt better I think I’d definitely go ahead but I don’t want to feel worse! I already have 2 dc (7 and 10).

Does anyone have any positive stories ? I think I’m just getting myself anxious as I don’t know how i will cope with the nausea and there exhaustion, weight gain etc. But maybe I’m catastrophising?

We still have top quality frozen blastocysts left over from previous IVF so I need to really think about this as it was all fine in my head till we’ve actually got to the point of booking for a transfer and now I’m nervous !

You are only going on what this woman has told you. A woman falling pregnant at 50, and carrying to term and having a healthy baby, is almost 100% unlikely. UNLESS it was IVF.

You believe it was a natural conception if you want to. If it makes you happy to do so.

A friend had her first at 50. No fertility treatment etc.
The daughter is 6 years old now and healthy.
Friend copes well and longevity runs in her family. Her own mother is well into her 90s.

She is one of a handful of people in the UK. More people win the lottery than get pregnant naturally at fifty.

Almost 100% is not 100%. There’s still a chance however unlikely or ill advised. I don’t know why some posters are arguing so strongly against the possibility of it. It’s clearly possible for some women, however few there are, to conceive a healthy baby at 50.

I had my first two children in my 20s, got divorced and married again and had another two kids in my early 40s!
I remember feeling more tired, but I still had the energy to run around after them. I had also grown up a lot and was much more patient with them than the first two!
Maybe I was lucky....my elder children absolutely adored their younger siblings and were often an extra pair of hands ...their own choice, certainly didn't expect it. So that was an unexpected bonus!
Today, as adults, they are all close and I love the fact I had a big family.
On the minus side...I've had to wait until my 60s to do all the things I never had the chance to do before such as travel, have a lot of me-time etc. Whereas if I hadn't had children later on I could have been doing years ago. But as I say, I've no regrets at all .

Well it's absolutely the truth. It's my best friend's sister. She is very Catholic. She kept the child. It happened. But this is the Internet so I do appreciate that there is much untruth here so no way of telling truth from lies.

Very Catholic you say? How old were her teenage daughters would be my question…A successful pregnancy at 50 is very unusual.

Yes it is very rare but does happen.
It did used to be much more common to pass of a teenage daughters baby
as your own. So I am always sceptical about historical tales of this happening. But in modern times drs can tell if you are the one who has given birth.

Yes this definitely happened a lot in Ireland.

In a population that doesn't use contraception and that thinks having sex with your husband frequently is a moral duty then later pregnancy might be more common...

What about Victoria Cohen who got pregnant at 50?
