Can someone explain to me what is going on with the A66 crash and revenge killings?

I’m not understanding any of this. 5 young men were driving a car in the wrong land and hit an unmarked car head on, killing the two police officers driving it. That I understand.

Why are there now reports of a house being burned out, killing an older woman and a young child? Further hints of gangland violence. Why? Is it the families of the 5 men blaming each other, or other people?

If you read the news articles they explain that it's a different car from the one giving chase. It wasn't a random chase. Stuff had been going on through the day, with more than one car, and multiple officers were involved with investigating and tracking down the cars and those responsible. This pair of officers were already on the A66 when the young men being chased joined the wrong side of the carriageway, so it was a head on collision.

I mean it's no coincidence Middlesbrough is one of the most impoverished and most unsupported towns in the country. And I know because I grew up there. Not excusing the vile behaviour of these men but this sort of thing doesn't happen in the wealthy, leafy villages of the home counties does it? No coincidence.

as to why their families are mourning them - they are still someone’s child, brother, friend and we can’t assume that they are all involved in crime. You can also me a little toerag running illegal cigarettes, fake alcohol, class b drugs and carry a weapon yet also be lovely to your nan, do the neighbours shopping and coach a little kids football team (one did the latter) they aren’t mutually exclusive.

It was one of the police officers that coached the kids football team.

4 of the 5 boys in the car had a string of previous offences. As do lots of people who live in those deprived areas. I also known some kind, honest, hard-working people who live in the same areas.

Mourn them yes, be sad fine. Obviously that is normal. Just without all the 'he was a top lad' crap. None of them were. They were all lowlifes terrorising their neighbourhoods.

If one of my dc died killing police officers I'd obviously still be upset at their death but I wouldn't post tributes and rubbish. It is beyond inappropriate. They should try and show some sensitivity but that will be beyond people in that scummy crime riddled culture.

Those areas are the cocaine users, white collar crime, fare dodgers. Just have a veneer of respectability

It is, I grew up in Acklam and my family still live there. Acklam is a nice place to live. I now live just over into North Yorkshire but I am in Acklam multiple times as week due to family and my son plays in a football team there. I walk around the area ( Acklam Hall part) whilst he trains and never feel intimidated (and I am a bit of a wuss).

Middlesbrough has a horrendous reputation, and the facts are there, but for people like myself and my family, we are just honest people getting on with life and living a good life.

Having said that, Middlesbrough town centre is now a drug soaked slum tbh. Once you leave Hill Street Centre, it is awful. A real shame when I look back at happy times there as a teenager.

I’m not far away and yes, some parts are rough but decent people also live there. Have a look at local facebook posts were 99% of commenters were focused on the two police men who were killed. Have a look at the GoFundMe that has passed the 1M mark. It is heartbreaking to think of all the innocent lives being affected by this.

The poor police, and their families

Imagine being a family liaison office in the police and having to support the families of the passat occupants who are posting tributes to their 'top lad' sons and blaming the police for the whole thing. I wonder how they do it.

I read that it is likely the liaison officers were likely to be from a neighbouring force. Don’t forget the ambulance and fire crews sorting out the aftermath too.
