Can someone explain to me what is going on with the A66 crash and revenge killings?

I’m not understanding any of this. 5 young men were driving a car in the wrong land and hit an unmarked car head on, killing the two police officers driving it. That I understand.

Why are there now reports of a house being burned out, killing an older woman and a young child? Further hints of gangland violence. Why? Is it the families of the 5 men blaming each other, or other people?

I think it's just how absolute scum live their lives. RIP officers.

Am I right in thinking that none of the news articles have identified which of the 5 were driving the car?

5 lads in the car along with 5 phones filled with evidence I suspect. A warning perhaps, to keep quiet about what was known wider and enaure the general community is too afraid to speak up.

Someone on SM named one of the lads as being related to the family where the fire was, unsure if thats true.

If they knew the police wouldn't chase them once they went down the exit of the A road then why did they not slow down or stop on the exit bit given at that point, the police weren't behind them. They must have driven at high speeds off the exit to then have gone straight into the other police car. Does anyone know how long they were driving the wrong way before they crashed?

Honestly it all seems insane to me. And eye opening at the massive problems we have within our own communities and youth in this country which for once can't be scapegoated onto others.

The information in the BBC report on the other arrests said that police had arrested them on a range of offences including unlicensed firearms, possession of class A,B and C drugs, connections to organised crime and assisting offenders. This looks like a complex web of organised criminals and associates. I think, since there will be trials, everyone needs to stop speculating online so as not to prejudice the process.

The crash wasn’t the cause of the revenge attacks, the people involved were. Some of the young men who died were linked to ongoing criminal feuds in the area. Their deaths sparked rumours and accusations within those circles, and the house fire looks like a retaliatory attack connected to that wider dispute. It’s not about the police crash itself, but about existing gang tensions.

Its not one long continuous road, they would have quickly come to a cross road and then roundabouts where police could have intervened again, so even with the chase called off they would have still wanted to get well away I presume.

The chase was after a day of incidents that the police were following and they drove the wrong way to stop the police from following them.

It’s social media like any other. Defence lawyers scrape around the web to find anything to get a trial stopped on technicalities. Have you never heard the police calling for a stop to speculation to avoid prejudicing trails before?

Do you have proof of this? I believe some of the families have alleged it, but I find it hard to believe the police would have had time, from what I've read about this whole horrible incident.

My manager is from Middlesbrough and from what he understands they are from a sketchy part of the city. He said he doesn’t even like going anywhere near there. It’s all gone a bit wild tbh, I’m not even sure what’s going on.
