Can someone explain to me what is going on with the A66 crash and revenge killings?

I’m not understanding any of this. 5 young men were driving a car in the wrong land and hit an unmarked car head on, killing the two police officers driving it. That I understand.

Why are there now reports of a house being burned out, killing an older woman and a young child? Further hints of gangland violence. Why? Is it the families of the 5 men blaming each other, or other people?

What a ridiculous comment! The poverty is that of morals and decency

I suggest you do some research into entrenched poverty. It's so much bigger than you can possibly imagine.

Fuck me @FlamingoFlossdid you actually just put that through AI and copy it here straight with emojis, complete with police car?

Stop. Speculating.

The emojis are wild.

My manager is from Middlesbrough and from what he understands they are from a sketchy part of the city. He said he doesn’t even like going anywhere near there. It’s all gone a bit wild tbh, I’m not even sure what’s going on.

Great contribution! Tell your manager he still lives in a town it never got promoted to a city.

If they knew the police wouldn't chase them once they went down the exit of the A road then why did they not slow down or stop on the exit bit given at that point, the police weren't behind them. They must have driven at high speeds off the exit to then have gone straight into the other police car. Does anyone know how long they were driving the wrong way before they crashed?

Honestly it all seems insane to me. And eye opening at the massive problems we have within our own communities and youth in this country which for once can't be scapegoated onto others.

There was ten seconds between them turning onto the road and the accident.

This. Bunch of shits that were presumably dragged up, and operated in an environment of organized crime and awful behaviour. Sad that people are dead, but the subsequent arrests speak for themselves.

It’s social media like any other. Defence lawyers scrape around the web to find anything to get a trial stopped on technicalities. Have you never heard the police calling for a stop to speculation to avoid prejudicing trails before?

And judges tellling jurors not to research/read anything online to do with a case.Trials can collapse if a jury member has been found to have been making searches about the case and/or defendants. Once there has been an arrest or arrests in any sort of case, legacy media does not have the comments section open to prevent speculaoton This does not happen on social media and all sorts of rumours and gossip can and do proliferate there.

Icepinkeskimo · 26/08/2026 23:00

Middlesbrough has the highest percentage of class A drug users in the UK. It’s a captive market, ruled by scum bag drug king pins. It’s not just confined to Middlesbrough, all the neighbouring towns are the same Stockton, Redcar to name two.

The rot set in years ago when British Steel and ICI closed. Overnight massive unemployment and little or no hope of work. The drug dealers move in to their captive market. This incident that happened at the weekend is nothing new, Cleveland Police need more support in even having a hope of regaining order.

Some of the most fantastic people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet are from these areas. They deserve better, the children deserve better. It’s time for the Government to wake up to this shit show that is ongoing.

Everyone thanking their lucky stars that they don't live in Middleborough. I say that as someone from a decidedly sketchy part of the Midlands.

HelenaWilson · 26/08/2026 23:02

Why can't they take down these people before they kill police officers and innocent 7-year-old girls? Its woke bollocks, isn't it?

They need evidence.
They are unlikely to get witnesses to speak out, so it has to be gathered by other means, which takes time - going through phone records and bank accounts (this is why we have money laundering regulations) and tracing vehicles and so on.

MrsKateColumbo · 26/08/2026 23:02

Truly so awful and frightening for Middlesborough residents

He doesn’t live there anymore…. He’s from there, it’s me who said city…. Not really important when you know exactly what I’m trying to say 🤦‍♀️ all ways one

Cleaningismycardio · 26/08/2026 23:04

When I heard it was potentially gang related I wondered if the photos of the 5 were chosen (presumably by the families) as some kind of warning- they are all making the same hand gesture/sign. It is absolutely horrific and my heartfelt sympathy to the innocent victims and their loved ones.

No idea what you were trying to say. Speculating while knowing nothing, obviously. Always one.

It’s so weird to see AI posts like this on a discussion forum. I really think there should be disclaimers on posts if they are AI generated.

I don’t think a disclaimer is needed, as it’s so obvious. But I do think people should be banned if they use AI like this. It’s so pathetic. Like the poster is the only one able to copy and paste from ChatGPT.

By older woman do you mean this 34 year old woman and her niece? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgmrglpj8rlo

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder over the fire in Middlesborough, police say.

It’s utterly horrifying. I have no idea what’s going on, and I don’t want to speculate, but that poor little girl and her aunt. She was only seven years old, how could anyone do this?

Handeyethingyowl · 26/08/2026 23:39

That poor woman and little girl. So sad!

Devonshiregal · 26/08/2026 23:54

Merrybandofpirates · 26/08/2026 21:48

Because the police were chasing them. They tried to outrun the police by turning the wrong way down the A66 slip. The police stop chasing at that point. That’s all very old news now.

how did the police officers end up killed? or were they in a. different car? and if so were they part of the chase?

Springtimeinsunshine · 27/08/2026 00:09

I can't figure out how the aunt and child murders are related to the house rammings, drugs and driving the wrong way from police. I hope the men who did it rot in hell. Absolute scum.

MulberryWedges · 26/08/2026 21:33

I'm glad you asked this question.
I am completely confused, more so after reading the news update yesterday.
Why have 17 people been arrested? What have 17 people got to do with this car driving the wrong way?
Why are people paying tribute to the 5 males in that car in words that describe them as wonderful, caring lads? Why are balloons being released for them?
Why did a car drive in to the house of the father of one of the lads in that car?
Honestly, I have read about it but I am completely confused.

17 people associated with the dickheads going the wrong way (I'm not going to mince words on this because they were dickheads who caused the deaths of others - it was police they happened to hit but it easily could have been a family with a few kids) have been arrested.

Amazingly most of them have been CHARGED with firearms offences.

So yeah such a lovely bunch and don't we all have guns under the bed?

Yet magically it turned out to be remarkably easy to find all these firearms just lying around next to the sofa.

That was just pure luck that's the police knew where to look.

Good point, well made. Don't know why we are pussy footing around this, some of the language used like boys and lads. These are foul people raised by foul people, amoral and feckless.
