A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 🥀

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

With all this buildup, it’s possible I’ll be disappointed when I finally get to one!

However, I wasn’t particularly fussed about going to Betty’s, but I loved it!

Knutsford still has a Booths which is as far South as Booths go. It was kind of like the opposite of Waitrose before they entered Cheshire at Sandbach in 2003. Now Cheshire must be one of the larger consumers of Waitrose goods. It always baffled me why Waitrose had stores in Ramsgate but not in Wilmslow/ Alderley Edge. Now they have Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Cheadle, Poynton and Sandbach despite for 90 years not daring to venture north of Oxford !

Here you go: https://www.booths.co.uk/stores/

We're near Settle next week, so we'll tick another store off the list to visit!

Report back please, I've never been to the Settle store. Got fomo 😂

I went to Booths Carnforth last weekend. Driving to Knutsford tomorrow, so will end up in Booths there again.

I've not been to the Knutsford one yet. I was meant to have a Christmas meet up there with an MNer from the Christmas countdown thread the other year, but she ended up moving house instead and it didn't happen. One day, maybe! Xmas Grin

I shall provide my score for Settle once I've been. 🤣

You do know that the Booths in Knutsford was built on what used to be Knutsford Prison which ceased to exist in 1934 ! Some historical details there and I do believe Booths have certainly been there the first time I went to Knutsford in 1993. I actually wondered whether the 'North/South' Poverty gap was the other way round and a figment of imagination of the southern based media. Then I visited 'Rochdale' when canvassing for the Conservative Party and realised that the newly refurbished 'Fairmont' Mere Resort and Macclesfield Road in Alderley Edge, are so far removed it beggars belief !

CaveMum · Yesterday 22:48

Oops, nearly lost you all there! Totally losing track of what day of the week it is here as off with the kids for a few weeks!

All this talk of Booths is making me think it might be time to venture north again. I like the one in Windermere, not least because of its proximity to the Lakeland store, and went to the newish one in Barrow (which I'm I'm pretty sure used to be an Aldi) last time we were in the Lake District.

I'm sure someone on this group mentioned some falls worth visiting in Yorkshire, but can't remember who or the name of the falls.🤔

TV programmes: We watched an Australian drama earlier - 'Heat' on Ch5. It was a bit different and probably worth watching on catch up.

This is just scandalous.

Wait until next months when the bulk of the tourists have gone. September is a lovely month to head north.

I am looking forward to a break from the masses once schools go back.

This is just scandalous.

This is why we will leave the ECHR as soon as Labour are chucked out next election.

strawberrybubblegum · Today 06:10

I suspect there may be a showdown though, with both the civil service and the human rights industry trying to circumvent the new laws.

Interesting times.

@DinnerinfrontoftheTV love it!

now, do Booths deliver to the US? 😂 I’ve still never been to one tbh. Might have another trip up north this year, possibly, but I never end up near one.

I've also never stepped foot in one of these mythical shops !
I only know about it from Mumsnet inspite of most my family being up north around Chesire!
I've browsed the Christmas catalogue for fun though and dream about visiting one day
