The long lasting chicken meal and other MN legends [light hearted]

Most MN know that a chicken can feed a family of 6 over several meals. What is your record?
Our chicken fed 8 of us when the kids were young for two meals. We sent it to the chip shop after the stove broke down.😀
Other MN legends - washing being darked on because it was left out overnight.
Any that you've heard on MN inthe respect if your heard them said irl you know the speaker is an MNer?

People who don’t use a toilet brush. I once dared ask how they clean a toilet. They put their hand down with a cloth apparently. 🤢
I’ve never met one of these scrubbers IRL.

Am oldie - the MN spreadsheet. Stuff of legends and I saw a copy once.

The "butter in coffee" Covid thing. It has been disproved it was ever said... yet nant remember it as gospel.

I thought it was cheese?

The horror tale of Savernake Forest. It was really good, actually, it scared me!
Penis beaker.

The people who come on to every one of these threads to say "I never found it funny" 🙄

The MN's DH eating the fat balls was my favourite.

The outrage of one poster when her DH wanted 11 eggs for dinner and a huge row erupted. That thread made me laugh for days!

You wouldn't catch me dead with a germy toilet brush in my house 🤮

I can’t remember the full story but you’ll know it if you know it - “snapped and farted”

The beauty of that thread was, the poster wasn’t even trying to be funny with that comment.

Hi!! 👋

Thisismyfinesthour · 18/08/2026 12:51

screaming in the Sistine chapel got me. I fainted at an Edvard Munch art exhibition in 1991, but I was pregnant and it was very warm 😳

What was the t-rexing in Asda one, can anyone remember?

hmmdunno · 18/08/2026 13:20

I arrived several years ago to read a thread by someone who had made a cake not up to her usual standards. She put it to cool before binning it. She caught her DH eating it anyway. And he wasn’t even using a plate. She started a thread for a rant and sympathy. Well… it didn’t go like that…

ParsleySageToiletDuckAndBinBags · 18/08/2026 13:26

Penis Beaker has extended for outside the realms of MN - it's used on other fora as shorthand for how... 'special'... we MNers are Grin

I will forever love Balonz!
"Whereabouts in the world does your friend Balonz originate from, OP?"
"Surrey, I believe."

You use bleach and if necessary scrub with bog roll - unless you use a bog brush to wipe your arse I’m not sure it’s any different.

my mum used to make chicken last 4 meals - roast dinner, chicken supreme with rice (using Campbells mushroom soup), chicken butties and then soup. 1970’s and we were skint!

Hereagain334 · 18/08/2026 13:32

One classic I remember is a woman who made fat balls for the birds, put them in the fridge and her DH ate them. Brilliant...

Whosthetabbynow · 18/08/2026 13:34

Hand with bog roll then bleach all round the rim. Who wants a toilet brush flicking mess everywhere 🤮

My mum used to be able to get three meals for four of us out of one chicken/joint of meat, @Thisismyfinesthour. Roast on Sunday, cold with bubble and squeak on Monday, then made into something like a curry, risotto, shepherd's pie on Tuesday. I think she did it by giving much smaller portions of meat, and more of the veg and potatoes (but not big portions of those either, to be honest).

Why do you think people use them to brush their teeth or something? Or don't clean them?
