The long lasting chicken meal and other MN legends [light hearted]

Thisismyfinesthour · 18/08/2026 10:01

Most MN know that a chicken can feed a family of 6 over several meals. What is your record?
Our chicken fed 8 of us when the kids were young for two meals. We sent it to the chip shop after the stove broke down.😀
Other MN legends - washing being darked on because it was left out overnight.
Any that you've heard on MN inthe respect if your heard them said irl you know the speaker is an MNer?

I’m surprised no-one’s mentioned Span Gran. That was a beautifully told tale which I think we all secretly realised was made up but were so enjoying the ride that nobody let on.

How rare ,so you didn't get the outraged joy suckers demanding the fun stop ??

CamillaMcCauley · 18/08/2026 19:25

Showing up to remind about the tiny Korean woman in the garden.

Chickensilkie · 18/08/2026 19:32

Omg thanks for the link to the *trex shouted at me in the super market " I've not had a good laugh for ages.
However there is talking of a Sharon and Asda and and starting at fruit and veg and throwing wine down the wall ? But the kinks in that thread dont work.

Oh the days when people were allowed to be silly on here

It was genuinely fun. I can’t even remember the premise now, I think it was that someone had come back to the wall of her listed home being partially demolished, it meandered all over the place, the OP’s Spanish grandmother turned up, there was a mysterious Chinese lady, we were on tenterhooks…

leavesinthebreeze · 18/08/2026 20:17

Mitmoo was the super soaker thread I think? Which poster did her name in a thread out of the flower emoji?

Just to say that this should have been flagged as sensitive content - idly scrolling through I have seen something I can never unsee...😱😲
Off to clutch my pearls...

My finger did hover over the toggle 😜

I find this odd as well. Pour in your toilet cleaning fluid, leave a while, then brush round the inner part of the bog, close lid and flush. Are some people trying to lick the brush or something? 😆😆

They clean it in the dishwasher! It sterilises, after all.

I made that up. But people do put their cat bowls in the dishwasher. Yuk!

Upwiththisiwillnotput · 18/08/2026 22:31

The one where the poster meant to call her toddler a whiny tinker and actually said tiny wanker instead- I think it was in a full GP waiting room 🤣

Zoopet · 18/08/2026 23:06

No is a complete sentence.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/08/2026 01:35

Lemon drizzle bitch was brilliant - PTA member complained bitterly about an OP’s LDC (I think this sold very quickly at a school fete, unlike PTA bitch’s offering)

Bupcakesandcunting’s itchy vag, which she did try to name change for

I can’t remember the poster, but the bollicle was very funny

Anything by the incredible late CatThiefKeith 💔

canuckup · 19/08/2026 02:14

The Suzi Quattro comment was gold

Also someone who had a haircut who said they looked like Richard III??

😂 Very funny

canuckup · 19/08/2026 02:16

That pic of Terry Wogan gets me every time

The lady who asked for pram/pushchair recommendations for flying (I think it was) and ended up replying to herself with advice quite a while after as there were no other suggestions.

Someone pointed out…you do know you are replying to yourself!

Fat balls really tickled me as did Suzy Quatros fat nan!

The drug addicted baby made me cry!

SheilaFentiman · 19/08/2026 06:29

It has to be the "show pineapple" for me. As in staging house for sale/visitors etc you have to assemble a fancy fruit bowl for the middle of the dining table including a pineapple that never gets eaten and is just for show.
Ditto the "washing up station" [pre everyone having a dishwasher] - this was a pretty tray with brand new bright white dishcloth, new unused dish washing brush, scourer and a bottle of fancy washing up liquid [NOT Fairy!] Rituals pink washing up liquid springs to mind and a fancy ironed and neatly folded tea towel. None of this was to be used but was just for show.
Mystified who even has the time and headspace to think of this stuff? Must be bringing up 5 daughters and a big fancy job that killed it for me - we were lucky to get to the end of the day with "everyone fed and nobody dead" as we used to joke when we finally got them all to bed!

That show pineapple had me doubled over in laughter.

For weeks.

TroysMammy · 19/08/2026 07:05

This one in the things children say made me laugh until the tears rolled down my cheeks and I couldn't catch my breath.

My cousins DD (now an adult with children of her own) was asked what she was going to do when she saw her Grandfather at the weekend?

She replied "I'll hold his ears and bang his head against the wall until he bleeds".

I was trying to find this one the other day. The OP username was echo and they replied to themselves around a year later, someone then responded with is there an echo in here? 😂

That one was hilarious. Sadly the poster didn’t add to the humour.

Please someone else remember Mitmoo or I will think I’m going mad!

The MASSIVE salad that is eaten with EVERY meal.

The teen boys who hoover food all day, every day including the entire contents of the biscuit and sweet aisle at Tesco and yet are whippet thin and uber healthy.

Additionally, any meal must also be carefully listed with one or more of: "healthy", "home made", "from scratch", "fresh" or similar, lest complete strangers instantly judge you as a complete slattern feeding your kids ready-made microwaved roadkill.

e.g: "we had chicken and potatoes with salad" must be >>>>> "we had home made healthy chicken stir fry and new potatoes prepared from scratch, with a MASSIVE salad".

You get official bonus points if you sneak in a comment about "UPFs" in a derogatory tone, and/or pretending you have been avoiding them your entire life, and not just since the term came to wide public awareness a while back.

GinToBegin · 19/08/2026 17:20

This is the one where poster asked about a pushchair, and answered herself some three years later. There’s a cracker of a comment, about 12 in.
