Most MN know that a chicken can feed a family of 6 over several meals. What is your record?
Our chicken fed 8 of us when the kids were young for two meals. We sent it to the chip shop after the stove broke down.😀
Other MN legends - washing being darked on because it was left out overnight.
Any that you've heard on MN inthe respect if your heard them said irl you know the speaker is an MNer?

One post in a CF thread in general. Now entered the stuff of MN legend as "Mexican House Thief" - Have you ever encountered anyone this cheeky? | Mumsnet Post in question stamped as: WeAreEternal · 20/04/2013 14:52. Still marvellous to behold.😉

Also Savernake Forest (the dog and I are planning a trip there!), The Allotment (Babs) and the CF who parked on private land and was locked in (CF had a minor celeb ex-footballer as a friend and was as entitled a knob as can be); the OP's brother was a legend who deployed an army of teds to surround the vehicle. Pom Bear. The outrageous wedding behaviours one. Treasures all.

Have you ever encountered anyone this cheeky? | Mumsnet

Inspired --roughly-- by a couple of threads recently... I used to have a friend (used to being the operative) who would come round to my house to smo...

One apparent "well known" fact was that Centre Parcs was famous for a specific sexual practice!
Also I have never met anyone with a tinkly laugh ( I have met someone that tilts their head though - for years I thought she had a problem with he neck)

I can't even remember the thread that started the MN's bat. 🤣

What was the t-rexing in Asda one, can anyone remember?

That thread still makes me laugh. It was this one.

Sorry am on phone so apologies if this makes no sense but he was doing t-Rex in Asda so i slapped his arm (not hard obviously) and he got really cross...

That later became infamous on Terry's Radio 2 show too: the moleskin trousers with the mole still inside them Grin

Thank you @PinkNailPolish2026 , I've just had a quick shoofty, mostly at the OP's posts.

"More serious though is Mole whilst driving which means I have to shout out." 😁

2012! Bloody hell I've been here a long time.

The MASSIVE salad that is eaten with EVERY meal.

The teen boys who hoover food all day, every day including the entire contents of the biscuit and sweet aisle at Tesco and yet are whippet thin and uber healthy.

The neighbours hot tub being contaminated by sex juice and new Fanny always makes me laugh.

Why do you think people use them to brush their teeth or something? Or don't clean them?

I find this odd as well. Pour in your toilet cleaning fluid, leave a while, then brush round the inner part of the bog, close lid and flush. Are some people trying to lick the brush or something? 😆😆

screaming in the Sistine chapel got me. I fainted at an Edvard Munch art exhibition in 1991, but I was pregnant and it was very warm 😳

That is my favorite too! I giggle just thinking about it.

wishingonastar101 · 18/08/2026 16:54

The woman who came on with a meal dilemma.
Everything for lasagne and boiled potatoes then realised no lasagne sheets. Outraged that people suggest pasta bake and boiled potatoes. Not understanding what lasagne is - she could cope with the double carb....

TheGospelAccordingToMe · 18/08/2026 17:02

Mumsnet scarf, I never had one and felt a little left out.

Supersoaker poster was a riot. Every single poster was telling her no, and she simply would not have it.

Personal favourites, of the funnies, Easter bonnet and Balonz, and of the ones that draw you in and pull on the heartstrings, Tiny Elderly Korean Lady, and Drug Addicted Baby.

Just to say that this should have been flagged as sensitive content - idly scrolling through I have seen something I can never unsee...😱😲

I’m surprised no-one’s mentioned Span Gran. That was a beautifully told tale which I think we all secretly realised was made up but were so enjoying the ride that nobody let on.

Izzwizzo · 18/08/2026 18:37

“Suzi Quattros fat nan” from the expectations vs reality thread. Laughed until I cried. It’s still in Classics if anyone needs a cheer up

You wouldn't catch me dead with a germy toilet brush in my house 🤮

Hope you are joking. One person who said she doesn't have toilet brush said she sticks her hand in the water and wipes the poo with toilet paper...which is, of course, much more hygienic than a toilet brush.

I cant imagine a situation where I would stick my bare hand in the poopy water. Have thick rubber gloves for toilet cleaning and rubber toilet brush for skidmarks removal.

I can assure you I'm not. Absolutely filthy.

It seems to have largely died out now, but ‘are you on glue?’ was very widely used as a response to an unwise/unconventional comment.

As has ODFOD, and the legendary Biscuit which I miss.

We do say ‘Are you on glue?” At home. DH doesn’t realise it’s a MN phrase.
