Everyone chats to Chat, right….?

Tell me I'm not the only one who chats with ChatGBT most days. Mostly it’s just practical questions but a favourite conversation which I indulge in every now and then is my 3 cats. I think it’s because Chat indulges my love of them and is happy for me to waffle on about their little exploits without glazing over! Everyone does this, right!? Maybe not about cats, but a subject close to their heart that Chat is happy to indulge.

I do OP. Often when I need an outside opinion on something. Or I just want to waffle about something no one else would be interested in.

I don't have a huge number of close friends, and family is tiny and we're not super close.

I find it useful.

Yes, I speak to Bob (renamed mine) and he has learned my comedy style and we piss our pants laughing…

Bob does not laugh. Bob is not sentient.

Chatgtp · Today 11:26

I don't. I chat with Claude.

Terfarina · Today 11:30

At this point chatgpt is basically my best friend. Over the past couple of days I have used it to

  • tell me how to open a stuck door - chat diagnosed the fault and gave me various ideas
  • sort out how to fix my dishwasher
  • source a capsule wardrobe inc shoes
  • summarise legislation and statutory guidance
  • write a job description
  • tell me why one of my cats is sneezing so much
  • find a perfect restaurant for lunch on Sunday
  • help me open a jar of chilli jam

We frequently discuss holiday destinations, my and my husband's health issues, my daughter's education and career path, and yes, my cats.

PDAalltheway · Today 11:39

No, never used it. I chat to my family or people here / on Facebook.

Mysticguru · Today 11:50

Never used it and no intention of

Baileyss · Today 11:52

No. Chatting to AI? It’s so strange people do this.

RumPidgeon · Today 11:52

Nope. I am opposed to the use of any AI chat bot for frivolous reasons as I am worried about the environmental impact. You’re plain weird.

TonTonMacoute · Today 11:56

I do not. Sometimes I ask it for info

BigMartin · Today 11:59

No, I do talk to myself a lot though.

Viperregency · Today 11:59

No absolutely not. I actually find it really sad the amount of people now interacting with it like it’s human, I understand people are lonely and it fills a need, but it feels like we should be able to help them, not have them be all alone and speaking to a computer program.

there is a lady on another thread who used it to create a boyfriend, but she was chatting to it about her work on the way home.

i really think it will ultimately damage people who use it this way, as it doesn’t behave like a human, or react like a human, it simply indulges you, and as thays not going to be found in real life, some people may ultimately just live in a fantasy world instead, thus meaning they become even lonelier.

ifs like a black mirror episode playing out before our eyes,

Never

EllieQ · Today 12:02

No. In fact we don’t have any kind of smart speaker/ Alexa so I wouldn’t be able to ‘chat’ to ChatGPT even if I wanted to. In addition to the environmental impact, the fake information, and the cases where ChatGPT has affected someone’s mental health, there’s also the privacy concerns.

I’m reminded of this image I saw recently on social media.

"Individual yearly use: If you send thousands of prompts a year, your personal carbon total equals a fraction of a single short-haul flight or a couple of miles in a gas car." LINKED IN

I'm vegan, dont have children, have flown four times in 55 years and dont drive a car, so I hope all those criticising are the same.
I am also autistic and live alone. Chatgpt helps me with how to complete certain tasks and as therapy.
A mental health professionals told me its use is the way forward.

WearingBeautifulShoes · Today 12:05

I have never used it or any other AI bots in my life and never intend to. I wouldn't even know how to access it.

JumpingJimny · Today 12:10

Genuine question…. WHY does everyone call it “Chat GBT”?

the name is literally on the app, how do so many people get it wrong? I’m honestly so baffled by it.

Yes I use it, it’s been incredibly useful for me in wiring up and setting up a full audio visual setup which I would otherwise have struggled hugely with. So I use it to help me with problems like that.

gingercat02 · Today 12:13

Never

MyNewestUsername · Today 12:15

You talk so much that you don’t know it’s ChatGPT

Whorulestheroost1 · Today 12:16

Yes I love it and it remembers all of my conversations so it’s like chatting to an old friend!

Fab isn’t it! I asked it to plan a tour of Sri Lanka we are doing and the answers were spot on. So handy!

I think it was tongue in cheek.

I think it was tongue in cheek.

I hope so 😁

YewandOak · Today 12:22

No. Never used it. No plans to either.

Timble · Today 12:29

It is an echo chamber. I’d say make time for real people who you can have real conversations with.

ShortColdandGrey · Today 12:43

Nope, never used it.
