Everyone chats to Chat, right….?

Tell me I'm not the only one who chats with ChatGBT most days. Mostly it’s just practical questions but a favourite conversation which I indulge in every now and then is my 3 cats. I think it’s because Chat indulges my love of them and is happy for me to waffle on about their little exploits without glazing over! Everyone does this, right!? Maybe not about cats, but a subject close to their heart that Chat is happy to indulge.

I think tbh it's just a really bad idea for your personality. You know how famous people become so weird and crazy? It's because everyone agrees with them and they have no authentic human relationships. It's psychological poison. We really need the friction of other people. Only chatting to sycophantic slave mirrors does to your personality what lying in bed all day does to your body.

I use it all the time at work btw, I'm just saying for "chat".

Although I once used it because I was getting confused about a medical thing and it was easier to ask "but what if..." questions there rather than keep googling seperate issues. Obviously I then fact checked it afterwards.

Incredibly useful for practical stuff - we recently set up a trust and it could explain the law and clauses that meant nothing to me.
When we were in France recently I was asking it for real-time info about where the fire danger was as we were in the area and it swiftly collated info from available outlets.
It's amazing for stuff like this – though it remembers past conversations and starts chatting to me like it knows me, which I find disconcerting. I'm not ever going to start idly chatting back. That's for the real world!

We don't need AI. We certainly don't need it in the way that OP is using it. I'm not boycotting AI, I just simply choose not to engage with it. It is so easy to not download the ChatGPT app. So easy. It's harder to work out how it doesn't pop up on my web browser, it's harder to get people to realise the ugly poster it makes look shit. There are so many other nefarious uses of the technology. I don't want to be feeding it more data on what it is to be human, how we communicate, what we emotionally and intellectually need. I don't want to give it my photographs or my kids' faces. It's creepy and gross. Avocados would never create a deepfake. Avocados will never steal my job. Avocados will never spread misinformation.

Absolutely never. I can not stand it! My sister in law does this and it drives me mental. 'Chat GBT told me this or that' i find it so odd and quite scary tbh

I used it last year when my wife had a serious brain injury it gave very practical.advice and pointed out people that could help.
I can see why lonley people would think of it as a friend though.
